Palmer allows his man to get in front of him on a goal line slant. That's a one step drop and throw. That INT goes to QD, but he's not at fault for it.
Callaway runs a route 3 yards short (he admitted it after the game) causing him to bobble the ball to the defense and its a pick 6 to Florida. INT goes to QD, but he's not at fault for it.
Palmer bobbles a fade that hit him in the hands vs UGA and it goes right to the DB. INT goes to QD, but he's not at fault for it.
Context. Hell consider this, QD was one dropped pass away from starting the season 4-0.
For all the "But but but QD throws into multiple coverage" folks, QD only had 3 picks that were on him. That isn't a lot considering he was only throwing to people who were triple covered according to some on here.
There isn't a big gap, if any, between QD or JG. Different skill sets, but there isn't a definitively better QB on our roster over the other 2. All are pretty much equals.
The assassination of QD on this board by some rivals that of Peterman. It is really amazing.
QD looked like a kid who was forced to play ball for his dad most of his life. I'm not denying that he has some extremely undeveloped skills but he just never looked like he was having fun, had no leadership skills and just seemed disinterested. JG has some flaws but things that can be fixed with good coaching. He also has intangibles that can't be taught. He showed immaturity at times (he was after all a RS Freshman getting his first action behind the worst O-line I've ever seen)but he also showed her cares about winning and that he can be a leader and that sometimes it's better to take a sack than just throw it up for grabs like QD did often. Not sure what everyone else was watching but to me JG clearly has more upside and talent.
I said for right now. We currently have McBride and JG. JG isnt the long term answer either but JG's me first mentality and daddy's meddling doesn't leave me all that comfortable with him. But somebody has got to play the position.
If Dormady is 100% I find it unlikely he transfers as the new OC seems to want a pro style offense and can develop qbs.
In the short few months I've been a member of this board I've come to realize that there is a ton of amazing thought processes that go on here.
If ever someone wished to study group think and pack dog mentality, VN is a perfect Petri dish.
It never ceases to amaze me at some of the things said on here about guys who are all orange and about men who have given far more for this program than the couch dwelling posters her ever have or will.
But I suppose that's simply the world we live in where people who have done nothing but buy a ticket on occasion demand to get their way. As Metallica sang...sad but true

Not trying to pick on QD, but at this point what school does he think he can walk in and have a better shot at winning the starting spot than UT. Unless he is talking about a FCS school, I don't know where he walks in and has the starting job locked up day 1.
McBride has probably played his last football at UT. He was a marginal signee even in the old system. He doesn't have the arm talent that either of the others have or that Shrout has. Helton's system is unlikely to emphasize a QB's running ability.
If you could place McBrides persona into JG or QD, we'd be set. Hopefully the game slows for one of our more talented signal callers, but as others have pointed out, what we really need offensively is a solution to our line play. Hard for any QB to be steady in a pocket that gives him a second and a half on most passing plays. I don't believe we hire miracle workers so the solutions, IMO, come when we turn this roster over and get better players. 6-6.
I personally like JGs persona....physically tough as nails and displays outstanding, fiery leadership skills. I dont believe his persona is the issue....its his pocket awareness and ability to process what he sees and go somewhere quickly with the ball, even if it means throwing the ball away so he doesnt take a myriad of unnecessary sacks....and all that can be easily coached into him with a competent D1 QB coach, something he hasnt yet been exposed to. The kid has outstanding arm strength and accuracy throwing the ball and is decent enough with his feet to have good success here imho.
Agree 100%! Every negative attribute about JG is fixable with time in the film room and working with a competent QB coach. A lot of it will come with experience as well and the game slowing down for him.
Some of QD's are fixable with coaching but a lot of them are lying squarely between his shoulders. The kid plays with a ton of fear even when he had a clean pocket and days worth of time there was still a ton of fear which broke down every bit of coaching he had received.
To me the decision on the two is so easy that I can't believe people even argue about it. Who are you going to choose: 1.) The kid who needs to make quicker reads which you can coach out and he has potentially 3 more years to coach this out or 2.) The kid who has a fear which you may or may not be able to figure out and oh yeah you only have 1 year to work with him?
It's pretty obvious I should go with number 1.
And how many college QB's have you coached? In all honesty, that looks good on paper. However, football coaching isn't done on paper.
By your logic, Tennessee in Kiffin's only year should have cut Crompton because he was as you say "a kid that has a fear which you may or may not be able to figure out and oh yeah you only have 1 year to work with him" and started Nick Stephens for 2008.
Coach Pruitt said all 22 starting positions were open. I doubt remaining years of eligibility are going to factor into who gets a shot at starting.
