Something for perspective

It seems like a lot of fan bases ours sometimes has some really outlandish expectations as a minimum. Not Since filmer there have only been 2 back to back seasons of 8 or more wins...let that sink in. He had 12 back to back and only 2 seasons of less than 8. In the SEC.

Thus far what CJH has done is very impressive when put in context. This years team is a very good example of it. Right now because of those that came before him this team has no middle. This whole team is freshmen and 12th year seniors. There are very few sophomores and juniors that aren't transfers. In fact squirrel and Pearce. Thats the only middle classmen contributors on this team. Everyone else is a freshman, senior or transfer. But this staff has shown they can develop players at every position.

I think the future is bright. We just gotta beat the breaks off vandy and whoever we end up playing in the Citrus bowl. Just seems like this is a citrus kinda year and we haven't been in a while.
Those 2 seasons of less than 8... people lost their damn minds over those..

With a win, the Vols will win eight regular-season games for the second consecutive season for the first time since 2015 and 2016. Additionally, Heupel is looking to become the first Tennessee head coach to have two eight win seasons in his first three years as head coach since Phillip Fulmer.
Quoted from RTI.com article

So what you are saying Heupel is another Butch retread or the second coming of Fulmer with no room in between?

Let’s pat ourselves on the back for hitting the standards of the worst 15 year period in our 130 year history. Well done. Participation trophies for everyone!
You apparently love to live in the past. Look into the future and enjoy life.

It does helps to keep it in perspective. After Dooley, Butch, and Beldar we should feel better about things, as disappointing as the mental collapses and missed opportunities have been.
I think most of us knew that we would take a step backwards at the QB and WR positions this season. The loss of Bru really really hurt. We all wanted to win more games but too many obstacles were in our way. These are not excuses but rather they are facts. Nico will put us back on track in 2024. We gonna be fine.

Go VOLS

Those 2 seasons of less than 8... people lost their damn minds over those..
Losing our minds over things is just the UT way... the point of the OP is to kinda show people got spoiled by the success Fulmer had much how UGA did with RIcht. Both programs ran into 3 dynasties. First Spurrier, then Saban, and now Smart.
8wins the SEC is not the same as 8 wins in any other conference especially over the last 30 years. Until next season (Big10) there is no comparable conference on a top-to-bottom competitive stance. 8 wins with an SEC schedule is like 10-11 in any other conference. This year's Big10 championship will be between Michigan and Iowa. Iowa is playing with a lame-duck OC who was fired midseason but is finishing it out. They are playing in their conference championship game averaging 18 points a game. The big10 West is so bad any SEC team could have won it this season, especially with Iowa's schedule.

Context and perspective are very important. People look at wins and losses without looking at who people played. I think UT's likely 8-4 record is a stronger resume than Iowas 10-2.
