Someone make me feel optimistic about Team 121.

Both were really great for us last year.. Malone had the speed and Jennings had the hands and still does. Speed/Possession.. we got the best of both worlds. to be honest guys idk who gets the nod at outside opposite to Jennings this year.. Byrd gets the slot and I think his role expands immensely this year, especially if JG gets the nod, but I was really hoping for a guy to step up at outside after Preston left.. someone needs to step up and have a huge spring

I think Brandon Johnson and Marquez Callaway could both have a breakout season. We have some very talented receivers on the roster. I just hope Beard can develop them and get them more involved in the passing game.

1) Proven veteran QB.

2) Proven stable of backs and WRs.

3) One of the best DE's in the country.

4) Deep at most positions.

5) Three headed monster on offense.

6) Finally some coaching stability.

7) Projected to win the East with all the talent we have

Oh wait that was last year!

But the injuries! We've come so far under Butch Jones as a program! We've won 15 out of our last 19 games! - blue font

The only position group where I question whether we have the talent to win a national title is cornerback. Hopefully, Charlton warren can maximize the talent of the players we have there. Offensive line should be much deeper. Injuries there really hurt us parts of the season. We should be a lot more athletic at linebacker if Bituli, Sapp, and Reid are ready to play. WR, TE, QB, RB, DL, S deep and talented.

I think next year we will be wondering why we didn't appreciate Dobbs and what he did for this offense more when he was here.

The east is still gonna be pretty bad.

Not that it has mattered for the last few years.

My bad. Let me try again.

We are going 15-0. Everything is awesome. We are completely stacked with proven talent at every position and the BSiA.

Plan A all the way to Atlanta.

Take their souls ...or lunch money.

Release the Beast.

That better? :)

Haha, yea one extreme to the other. It's all good, just bustin your nads anyway. You and another poster remind me of Leo Dicaprio's character in What's eating Gilbert Grape. :)

I just don't see it.

Blowout losses to Vanderbilt and Alabama. 3 in a row for Bama.

Bad secondary play. We lose our best cover guy.

Bad O line play, they all return this year.

Lose both top DE's that accounted for 19 sacks.

Lose best Wideout.

Freshman QB.

This all points to a down year, even more so than 2016.

Put on your orange colored glasses and repeat: 1998, 1998, 1998.

It's a transition year... And big test of Butch Ball...If Butch has built the program like he envisioned, then we've developed bench strength off of strong recruiting, and will be fine. If not, then we can always bask in pity and venom on VN.

I find it hilarious how the negavols don't think this team could possibly compare to the 98 team, touting their talent AFTER the fact.

Us old-school guys still have the magazines from BEFORE that season.

The year before, Tee Martin was 6 of 12 passing, for 87 yds, 1 Int and 1 TD. Anybody saying he would lead us to an NC would be out of their tree.

But as the mag says, "But it's on defense where the Vols could see a major drop-off. Six starters must be replaced and questions remain about the health and availability of the Vols two best defensive linemen, Billy Ratliff and Shaun Ellis." No, that's not like us at all.

Okay, could you tell me who would be the equivalent of:

Fred White
Jermaine Copeland
Travis Henry
Tim Sewell
Dwayne Goodrich
Shawn Bryson
Travis Stephens
Al Wilson
Jamal Lewis
Peerless Price
Billy Ratliff
Raynoch Thompson
Cosey Coleman
Chad Clifton
Shaun Ellis
Cedric Wilson
Eric Westmoreland

Hurd gone. There.

Hmmm, Hurd was gone when Vandy slapped us silly. You fail.

It takes time to bleed out all the poison he was spreading.

I've got nothing against being selfish, I handle my business that way too, but come on. How did anything he do, to help himself, help him? It looks to be a backfire. I hope for his sake, things get better for him. As for the Vols, it was a low down dirty move, that hasn't helped either one of us.

We need better leadership. It's all about the Captains.

But by all means he is a youngster that lacks sense, so good luck with that.

We would have been 3-8 or 4-7 without Dobbs.

This.

Dobbs accounted for 13 total touchdowns rushing and receiving. He had three more rushing touchdowns than Kamara at 9, and overall accounted for 22% of the total touchdowns by the team in 2016 as a rusher or receiver.

Fans that think we won't accutely feel his absence in the 2017 season, or that Guarantano or Dormady will be able to produce on the same level, are deluding themselves to maintain unbridled optimism in the face of those statistics.
