Some thoughts on what has transpired....

Let me ask you something then, we didn't know that Jamal Lewis was dealing drugs at UT until after he left, do you still consider him part of the UT family, just because he didn't get caught while here??

I don't care. Was he convicted of a felony while he was here? Did he steal from team mates?

Something tells me that if we dismissed every player that ever dealt drugs at UT, we might not have much of an athletics program.

True that, which is kind of why I'm kind of confused as to which people prefer, drug dealers or thieves?? The thing that I'm looking at here too, is the fact that it wasn't like armed robbery or something stupid like that. No one got hurt, the property will be returned, Cam will answer for the crime he possibility has committed, and he probably won't see any jail time at all. So, can and will he learn a lesson here, he better. Does he deserve to be on the team, I think he gets one more shot with zero tolerance, and if not, that's OK too. I'm just not willing to toss a guy off the team, especially considering what Dooley tried to do for Janzen Jackson over his career.

Eric, you're nuts. Clear has already been rung up once internally for stealing. This was his second chance and he blew it. Now, he gets to be either a Memphis Tiger or Ole Miss Rebel Black Bear

If he gets kicked off , I could see him end up with Bama. And that makes me sick.

So, because he's stolen in the past two weeks, possibly two times, now he's just labeled like that for life?? Just wondering, when do the label lift for some of you guys??

Remember when your parents used to tell you that it only took a second to earn a bad reputation? This is what they were talking about.

Saban won't touch him

I don't know about that. I know they were his second choice. If he can turn himself around , I think Nick would take a chance. No disrespect to Douglas , but he had issues here that were not reported to the police. You know he asked Dooley what the deal with him was. But yes , I know it's a different situation and AD never got arrested. I'm just saying that I think Nick would consider it. He isn't known for turning away talent.

He isn't going to take a 2nd string TE with legal issues. He doesn't have to take chances on guys like that

He is still young. Second string right now , but he was pushing for PT. Nobody was going to pass Rivera this year anyway. But you might be right , and no he doesn't have to take those chances.

Ok, let me ask you a question, do you think he deserves to spend 2-6 years in jail possibly for this crime he is accused, and not yet convicted of?? The charge is almost always worse at first, than it ends up being, especially with things like this.

The reason people are often overcharged is because police don't always have all the facts or law on hand when they make an arrest.

Theft cases are particularly tricky because the value of an estimated quantity of copper wire or the hubcaps of a 1985 Ford Fiesta can be difficult to prove. In Cam's case, the value of a Macbook Pro is not at all difficult to determine and it falls comfortably within the range of a D felony.

Legally, Clear could be in seriously hot water. The facts do not look good for him.

The things working in his favor are his lack of criminal history, age, and maybe his family.

Because Cam is legally boned, he has a strong incentive to plead. Because of the above mitigating factors, he's looking at 2 years, not 4. So he has no incentive to plead to 2 years to serve, he can go to trial and get that.

Easy cases like this shouldn't go to trial unless there is some fundamental conflict between the defendant and the State about what the punishment should be. That usually occurs in violent cases. So the prosecutor is probably going to offer something that's easy to plead to, like diversion or a couple of years of probation.

It should go without saying that anyone facing prosecution should ask their attorney what the consequences of any course of action are, and not rely on anything they read on a message board.

No doubt. All Eric needs to do now is describe Cam's adversity as being just shy of the adversity faced by Marshall after the plane crash in terms of severity.

Full circle.

Show me where I said that, other than trying to read into my post what you want to see.

There are many things that can be handled in house, and this is one of them. If he's dealing drugs, get the cops involved, if he stole something, let the team and coaches handle it.

Like waterboard him or something? You keep saying it should have been handled differently, yet never put any ideas as to how.

Classic case of "sounded good, but I have no why" syndrome.

Pretty sure he casted a demon out into the swine.

But the parts in the old testament about killing people for worshipping different gods than you, killing homosexuals, and how it's cool to beat your slaves, all that is still cool right?

Only as long as you beat sluts with rocks, keep women from leading a service, beat your kids, and pay your ten percent.... yeah, I guess so.
