I agree with you. I guess I interpreted the use of the term make or break differently than you. No way is Butch's job in jeopardy after this year, but this is the year to do something special. That's how I read it.
I don't think it's fair to say we are "just OK at wideout". We obviously have the talent in Josh Malone and Preston Williams. I think it would be more accurate to say "for whatever reason they haven't been able to put it together in the passing game."
We're definitely in accord there. It all lines up this year for team 120 to do special things.....nobody else has a proven QB in the East unless you count Lambert at UGA and that's a stretch...3 new head coaches with Mason and Stoops still at Vandy and Kentucky respectively. We're talented and experienced across the board. No doubt about it, it should be a special season and if it's not, absent of a large number of season-ending injuries to most of our best/most important players, it'll be incredibly telling of and not good news for Jones. We certainly agree there. Looks like maybe I misunderstood where you were coming from.
If a HC in the SEC knows as much about UT as most of us, he's paying way too much attention to us & not enough to his own business. He'll have a short ride at his current school

"...as good a defensive coach as there is in the world." per an anonymous SEC coach (and with no exaggeration either).
I hate to admit it but IMO he is as good a D coach as there is. Like Shoop, who is considered as good a D coach as there is, he has taken a very underwhelming defense and made it a top D and in the SEC no less.
Not to mention the immediate difference from when he personally took over was night and day.
I wouldn't say he is the best but he is as good as any I can think of. Enough so I'd be worried having to play a D full of 5*'s coached by him.
That was probably a Florida assistant. Wolf had 4 catches for 55 yards against them including that jump pass.
The line about it being make or break for Butch because of some off field issues sounds like something that would be posted here by a rival.
No, he hasn't. Tennessee had 335 yards rushing vs Vandy last year.
