Some players feel coaching is not the problem

I agree that it is mostly about the Jimmy's and Joe's. remind me again who is responsible for recruiting said Jimmy's and Joe's.

Im starting to think that most of you all don't understand football and kids at all. Why would a class of 5-stars want to play for UT right now? Surely not because the stadium is rocking week in and week out. It's surely not because all the love UT gets in the media or how much we support our head coach. Just face it, Dooley walked into a crap situation. He walked into a situation that will take time to fix for any coach. Well coached 3 stars will lose to well coached 5 stars every game.

It takes time...the next coach will be one lucky guy!!

I think if the players didn't support Dooley we would have a even bigger problem than we do now.

It appears that the players support Dooley. They have problems with some of heir teammates. As some of us have been saying for some time now, we still have holes which need to be filled with better talent.

And he's right....I keep reading stuff on here about how our players are good so it must be the coaches' fault, are you kidding? We have 1 great player, and 5 or 6 good players and all but one of them is on offense. Not a single player on our defense would start for Alabama or LSU or Florida or Georgia or South Carolina except maybe AJ. We do not have elite talent, therefore we will not compete with elite teams. Its that simple...throw in the fact that some of our good players are putting themselves in front of the team and playing terrible, and you get the results we are getting. Not saying the coaching is all pro, its just not the only reason we suck hard.

this

And who is responsible for recruiting these two star diamonds in the rough? We may be the slowest team in the last 25 years. Other than his piss poor coaching, his recruiting philosophy sux's.

and this.

i think they could improve on the x's and o's end of things. no doubt about that. but, there are some serious talent issues in certain spots.

these guys watch film. they have to see footage of what's going on. they know there are guys on the team who can't pull their weight.

It's sad when opposing fans have to come in and bring a dose of reality and rational to our fanbase.

Thanks Gator. This fanbase has lost their minds this season.

It is an interesting dilemma. All I can say is, over the last few years, Dooley has signed more dbs than McDonalds has served hamburgers. Yet our secondary continues to get shredded.

Jawuan James tweet:

"@JawuanJames70 It's not about the X's & O's its about the Jimmys and Joes at the end of the day."

Sounds nice but I don't buy it. At the end of the day, the coaches have to take responsibility. We have the Jimmys & Joes. It's been the X's & O's that's been getting us beat.

So it's about Haslam?

We have X's & O's. We have lifelong professional football coaches. We have a decent training facility. It boils down to the pupil has to dedicate himself to getting better. If he does not, the natural order of things state that the adult is ultimately to blame. That is clear and indisputable. But your life and all things in it are your own fault. If Bray had truly immersed himself in the playbook and also mastered the fundamentals, footwork and techniques a qb uses then Dooley could not have stopped him from being a GREAT player. If Bray does NOT make that personal committment, what can Dooley or Chaney really do? Yell at him? Threaten to tell his dad (whom he is on record saying he doesn't listen too)? If the players have a burning desire to be the absolute best they can be then no one or thing can stand in the way or stop it from happening. Period. If these guys are one step from pro ball like everyone seems to think then they would display a pro attitude towards their own progression and development. Instead of "tweeting" out bs and whining and pouting on the field and the sideline. Grow up and be a man.

Comparing attitude, Hugh Freeze has pumped Ole Miss and they are winning and recruiting in his first year, I wrest my case, a good coach can make an immediate difference.

Right on, you are absolutely right +1. Dooley needs one more year

First of all, Ole Miss is 4-3 and quite possibly will lose all five of their remaining games. So dont count the chickens yet on Freeze...

Second of all, what did Dooley do his first year? Started off by salvaging a top 10-15 recruiting class during the biggest clown slow of our program's history. He also won 8 games his first year but was absolutely robbed of two of them.

So if your making your case based on a first year, your dead wrong.

My stance is that our program withstood so much turnaround that any coach that was willing to give his all to correct it deserves a full cycle recruiting his own players and implementing his system. For me that means through next season. If we are not seriously competitive in the SEC east next year then its time to move on. Just IMHO.

Only a slight exaggeration.

Thought a couple of years back that our sec was gonna be a strength. Couple that with two coaches back there....really puzzling.

So, there is no possible way that some of our players could actually be the issue, you just want to blame coaching because that is the easiest direction to point your finger, if you blamed the players...they could kick your................

who is in charge? the players or the coaches? who brought the players in to win? we do have bad players but it is not the players fault for being brought in and failing. it's the coaches job. your last statement tells me your 6 years old and still wearing diapers.

Most of those guys are still freshmen and sophomores. The starters like Pwag, Teague, and Gordon have been the same this whole time. I don't remember how long Brewer has been here. We just expected them to either improve more or get passed up and neither has happened.

I have seen improvement from coleman comparing this year to last year so that gives me some hope for the future.

I would add that we need experienced DBs with real SEC speed. We've got some older guys back there now, but they're also the slowest DBs on the roster.

on the last play against lsu dooley and his staff sent more players on to the field that what is allowed. that is a penalty. that is a fact. before the season everyone agreed this was dooleys year to win or get gone. now you sunshine pumpers want to change the rules. typical loser mentailty. HE HAS NEVER WON ANYWHERE AS A HEAD COACH. TELL ME WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN IN HIM THAT MAKES ANYONE THINK HE IS JUST GOING TO WAKE UP ONE DAY AND BE A WINNER? nothing. please watch the games before you post.

And what has Dooley done since? The team has gotten worse over the course of his tenure even though the talent and depth have improved. Time to move on.

When fans start comparing UT to Ole Miss to make everyone feel better about the program, we know we're in big trouble.
