Some of you so-called "fans" on here..........

It sucks that your wife got cancer, it sucks that you had to watch her go through that, but if reading the word "cancer" or "oncology" affects you so, then you should seek professional help. You, took the analogy personally, that's not his fault, his fault is being a gator fan.

Speaking for myself, not Butchna, I will tell you that in the seven months since my mother died I've learned I have no idea when a bad day is going to happen. Or how bad it's going to be. Or what will tear my heart apart on those days. Might be hearing a song she loved, seeing a commercial for a movie she loved, hearing someone debate why you should just cut out sugar and that would help with your cancer, or hearing someone joke about cancer.

She didn't hate her cancer, she hated that it kept her from being with family and people she loved for six years. I'm fully aware I over-reacted last night. Under normal circumstances I would have talked smack to LW and that would be that. I wasn't able to do that last night. I wish he would have extended an ounce of grace, but I don't have any more control over that than I did over my mom's cancer.

It's just a massive amount of suck. That's all.

The coaches are here because the university is paying them to be here. When those checks stop then they aren't fans anymore.

Great point! Butch Jones is a VFL because he presently gets paid to be one. If he leaves, he will cease to be one. Isn't that called hypocrisy?

I don't believe that. I think every coach, for any sport, as they travel along their carreer path looks back on the good times at past jobs with great emotion. Few coaches think ill thoughts,... the ones who quit or are fired for cause probably do-recent UT BB coaches for example. The ones who had a good ride, like CBJ is having, I bet look back with fondness. Much like Johnny Majors recent trip to Pitt. You can be a Panther for Life as well as a VFL.
.
Don't no one go getting all goofy that if you're a VFL no other school can have a piece of you. That'd be like saying someone who gets a BSME from UT and MSME from Ga. Tech. and a PhD from Harvard can't follow all three schools teams.

Please, do elaborate as to how anything he said is incorrect? Or you could just continue with the contentless ad hominem attacks.

Picking up the torch eh?

I was responding to landscaping vols comments that:
-------------------------
Championship level per whom? Sportswriters and fans? A blind man could see that Dobbs isn't capable of beating a good SEC team with his arm prior to this season and so far he hasn't changed many minds this season.

1: I agree. No one had empirical evidence Dobbs could start the season on fire.

We have holes all over the field, so explain to me how we were going to win "championships" with this team.

2: I agree. While huge, HUGE, progress has been and is being made,... the depth chart, look at it.

Simply because it is year 4 in his coaching tenure? I didn't realize that year 4 in a coach's tenure somehow gave them the deserved right to compete for a championship. A lot of coach's would disagree with that assessment.

3 Darn right I agree with Landscaping Vol:

Everyone WANTS the VOLS to be competitive in this, CBJ's 4th year, and MAYBE they will be, and MAYBE they'll be SEC East Champions, and MAYBE they'll be SEC Champions, and by all the football gods, MAYBE they'll win one playoff game, and if football gods, voodoo, good luck, officiating, weather, butterflys in South America all conspire in our favor, why we can win the 2nd CFP Championship Game.
-------------------------
I'm not "clueless", i gots clues all over me! And my "contentless ad hominem attacks" were poking a little fun because, jeesh, i figure my comments were right in line with the ongoing conversation and I did not have to repeat all others points the led up to mine.

And voodoo and luck will play a large part this or any year, for any championship team. I gave you a pattern, make sure you get a box of pins while you're at it.

are making me seriously consider not coming back to VolNation. True, we have not looked like world-beaters the first 2 games and I am as disappointed as anyone. But some of you "fans" continue to bash the coaches and players on a daily basis. If you know so freaking much about football, then I encourage you to send Dave Hart your resume immediately....and we all will sit back and watch how its done.

I have been a Vol fan for a long time having grown up in KnoxVegas listening to John Ward's play by play on the radio before many games were on TV. As a student, I rarely missed a game. At the end of the day, I support the Vols 100%...win, lose, or draw. It pisses me off to read some of the sheet some of you post bashing the team, players, and coaches.

Fact is, most of you (me included) never played a freaking down of organized football. But I love the game and I love my Vols. So unless you can become Head Coach, OC, DC, etc and make the team better STHU and support OUR team. I would rather be an 8-4 Vol than a 12-0 Gator, Bulldog, or Bammer any day of the week!

Now lets kick some Bobcat @$$ and then worry about the Lizards. GBO!!

Feel better? Even I gave you a like!

No one makes you read or post here. If you find no value in our discourse...well...there have been plenty of memes posted which can advise you.

So you just want to argue for the saje of arguing then? Because the "if you don't like it than leave" is a really mature stance.

This is an awesome and most helpful thread.

Curious, is there any limit on how many posters you can have on your ignore list? (Asking for a friend.)

First, my thoughts and prayers to all those either battling this disease or watching helplessly as loved ones fight with all their soul....

Look, most people just hate hearing it even seeing the "C" word....myself included. But it's pretty obvious Lawrence was just making an analogy and not a joke. He could've said most cardiologists have never had heart troubles and it would've went over a little smoother but still same concept. (For the record, I had open heart surgery as a 2 month old in 1976)

There's very few people in the world not affected by this disease whether it be themselves or a close relative and evidently Lawrence is just like most of us in this regard. While this subject can bring out emotions I would just submit that while some may take offense to this analogy it's rather unfair to insinuate a joke was made.

It's just a touchy subject and although he's a damn Gator, I believe he's brought solid posts and reasonable discussions to this forum for quite some time even if they come from an opposing view point on occasion.

If I dare to make an analogy of my own, let's not hang a decent man for a traffic violation.

Oh dear, wtf? A junder13 quote was posted in another thread and sent me to here. I gotta read this thread from the beginning.

When people are apologizing for using diseases or ailments in their analogies, you know people are on edge.

Don't mind some of the Negas. You need both Negas and pumpers to have a good discussion. My opinion is you don't need to fill every thread with ludacris theories just because you don't like coach, backup MLB, or the offensive system. Some on here never post anything to do with actual football or X's and O's just negativity. Truth is most if those people don't have a clue about football and just do it to read their own words. GBO

You just made my day, thank you

Yes, It has to be the fanz fault.

Go look at the replay of a 300 # UT Junior Lineman miss block after block after block.
That speaks volumes about the Coaching taking place!!
