So why do you think Freeze wound up at Liberty?

Why did interest in Freeze drop so fast?

  • Just too much baggage

  • New transgressions came up

  • Sankey just said "No!"

  • Liberty was his true dream job all along

Not to enter the fray of this discussion (obviously lifeisdeep DOES NOT NEED MY HELP but David was not hereditary. In fact his own father thought that the prophet had made a HUGE MISTAKE when he said the youngest shepherd out in the fields would be ordained King of Israel and this started the "hereditary" line. David was made king because he was a "man after God's own heart". The only person God says that about in the bible. Just a clarification.
You are correct that David did not inherit the throne, however the sin in question occurred while he was already King, so my point stands, it is not an example of someone being given power back after sin, he already had it and never lost it, in fact no human being even knew about his sin with Bath Sheba, other than Nathan the Prophet.

Also, the idea that David had power from the moment he was anointed is anything but true. He had to run for his life for fifteen years after he was anointed because Saul, who was king at the time of the anointing, didn't jive with God's plan and had decided to kill David.

My apologies ….I thought you were saying the only reason he got it/kept it was because the heretical line-- which actually started with him and culminated in the birth of Jesus... Of course after the sin of David his life was never the same and paid dearly for it which means we still suffer the consequences of our sin which is what Hugh Freeze is enduring now and would probably say as with all sin...it ain't worth it...The ole saying applies here that "sin will take you further than you intended to go and keep you a lot longer than you wanted to stay......Main thing is we can all agree that we as believers want Freeze to find forgiveness and restoration...he's obviously found brokenness and heartache....

Yeah, but by the time of the Bath Sheba incident, when David intentionally sent Uriah into the thickest part of the battle so that he would be killed, David was already the ACTUAL king and had been for quite some time. Saul was dead so my point stands, your example of David is not an example of a group of people deciding to give someone another chance. God forgave David and gave him another chance, but God's judgment is perfect, he sees the heart, he does not have to discern and make the best judgment he can, he knows whether someone's repentance is true.

I guess technically David was always living in sin just like we all do. The consequence of the sin with Bathsheba was huge of course. David like us needed Gods forgiveness WAY BEFORE he became king. But I do understand your point.

I am going with the school of thought that says he just wanted to be a head coach. Once you have been a head coach (especially a successful one), it is hard to go back to being someone's assistant. Especially if you have a big ego. There is no pressure to win big at Liberty. So, if he goes there and is even moderately successful, he will be on the fast track back to being a head coach at a P5 school.

If it we're just Sankey, FSU would have ended up getting him. I applaud the man for doing something that will have more meaning and impact than just a game. Hopefully he, the school and ultimately the students at Liberty are somehow enriched by him coaching there. I wish him the best.

Mouses Ear rejected his membership... told him no such thing as free lap dances.

Hey OC, better if we just talk bro. I know you have service in the AM, what time will you be free tomorrow? Could use some prayer, at a crossroads right now. Text me when u get free?

Will do. If I forget, please reach out. I'll be free most of the afternoon.

Maybe he is a person that just made mistakes he regrets. I know I've made mistakes in life, and I'm pretty sure we all have.

Yep, he went around professing to be a Godly man while violating the terms of his contract and placing his employer at extreme financial risk, cheated on his wife with hookers and told a series of lies for several yrs. So, Freeze knew what he was doing and didn't decide to repent, he only asked for forgiveness after he had been caught.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be forgiven but since he's played the role of a hypocrite that will use his religion as a sword before, you can't be sure he's simply not playing the game again. If I were a head coach, there is no way I would bring someone in that had exhibited such a character flaw. If Freeze has truly atoned, he has his forgiveness but that doesn't mean he should be trusted. Yep, we've all made mistakes but simply asking for forgiveness doesn't mean there isn't a price to pay and loss of credibility is one of the consequences.

Surprised they moved this BS in here instead of the pub or something.
We were on topic, however one of the posters kept resorting to the Bible to make his points, I tried to avoid it, but eventually had to engage him on those terms. Seems to have ended it too, otherwise it'd probably still be going on.

You notice that I started with "maybe" because I have no idea and am not saying one way or another. Just throwing a possibility out there. I've been around enough to understand all the things you are saying....and I leave all back and forth issues to folks like you. Trust is earned, for sure. Maybe he will or will not get that back. Just an observation because I have no way of knowing the heart and sincerity of others.

Got no problem with that, I was just pointing out why a head coach might not want Freeze around their program. If you know a guy has acted unethically trying to take short cuts to advance himself and refused to admit his behavior until there were pictures and hacked text messages, and you also knew he either wanted your job or the first ticket to another head coaching job, you likely won't trust him enough to make him an offer.
