So who shows up at Currie's welcoming press conference?

Anyone who is anyone at UT should show up. Stop pouting, put your big boy pants on and support the new AD. At the same time of giving him support let him know that he's been given a tremendous opportunity and he will be held accountable. People need to understand that just because things didn't go their way it's not the end of the world. I posted in another thread that we'll find out in the not too distant future what kind of AD we have as he is going to have tough decisions to make in all major sports. He is going to have to retain or hire new coaches across the board and if everyone can get together and solve these differences now it's going to be easier for everyone when that time comes.
Not disagreeing with the sentiment you are expressing but people do need to realize that the players have reason to believe that the new chancellor may be gone in a couple of years based on several factors, including Haslam's final term ending and the possibility that something similar to what happened the state university system under the FOCUS Act could happen to the UTBOT under the next Gov.

the Haslam brothers should stick to sell watered down gas and blocking the poor and the old from getting health care.leave the Tennessee program alone, they can not run there own team the Browns are the worst in the in NFL. you know Manning is hurt and pissed. Haslem can not run again. who knows MANNING would win his seat in the largest landslide in state history. May be he will so he can clean out that rats nest. they have pissed of the pope. we will see how that plays out. the war is not over

You speak as if this weren't a passionate fan base. After the better part of the last decade bad hire after bad hire has been made. Can't expect a celebration with confidence with this one either. Also some ppl pay lots of $ and want better. And they don't have any proof that it will be.

I wasn't necessarily referring to the average fan more or less the big money people, former players etc. I think it would be better to at least give the guy a chance instead of being a Haynesworth don't you? The hire doesn't have to be celebrated or even excite but getting behind him for at least the short term seems the smart thing to me. Just my opinion.

So lay your sources out there. Until then, that's all it is.

That's the best way to get cut off. If I tell you something off the record and you put it out there with my name attached, that would be the last time I would tell you anything.

Peyton is supposed to be there. But if I was him, I wouldn't show up. No way.

After reading the posts on this site, I now understand why colleges needed dog petting and coloring rooms after the election for those who didn't get their way.

Peyton absolutely should have--and did-- show up. He was on the committee, and showing up is what an adult should do. No need to throw tantrums and call for boycotts, etc, just because his preferred candidate didn't win.

Big Jim advocated for Currie. $$ talks and BS walks.

Sorry, but neither Fulmer nor Blackburn are "more qualified" than Currie.

Fulmer has never run an entire athletic department.
Blackburn has never done it at a P5 school.

Now, you can still argue over who you think would be best, but saying those two are more qualified is not an accurate way to start.
