If he has any sense at all he better make sure his new boss has her fanny there in a very public way to ensure her fate is tied to his. If he asks for something she better make it so. If she doesn't show up and demonstrate how enthusiastic she is over this hire, he's a dead man walking day one.

Just a hunch now, but I could be wrong. But I have a feeling the press will be there

Anyone who is anyone at UT should show up. Stop pouting, put your big boy pants on and support the new AD. At the same time of giving him support let him know that he's been given a tremendous opportunity and he will be held accountable. People need to understand that just because things didn't go their way it's not the end of the world. I posted in another thread that we'll find out in the not too distant future what kind of AD we have as he is going to have tough decisions to make in all major sports. He is going to have to retain or hire new coaches across the board and if everyone can get together and solve these differences now it's going to be easier for everyone when that time comes.

Why a big fanfare? Don't understand. Maybe a car and driver. If I were him, I would look at anyone showing up as a sucka--. It's not like he doesn't know folks his way around. Think about it. He has to find a place to live, ect. Has lots of time before job starts. Let him and family alone, if they need help and ask for it, then react.

Of course, all UTAD employees are basically required to be there.
I am more interested in the former players that remain loyal to Fulmer like Swain and Ainge.
Will they show up?

Also, if Currie is smart, he should reach out to Fulmer with some kind of olive branch. Even if Fulmer swats it away, it will make Currie look better to the fan base.

I meant former players, the big $ guys, people like that. I think some unity and attempts to make amends by all sides would go a long ways.

Peyton is supposed to be there. But if I was him, I wouldn't show up. No way.

Why is that? Just because you're all upset by Currie doesn't mean that Manning is. He absolutely should be there and show the new AD support. Just like Trump is president, Currie is AD and that's just how it is. Time to get over it and accept it.

Thought I heard on local sports radio yesterday that Currie ahs tried to reach out to Fulmer via phone sometime after the announcement, and Phil had not returned the call as of late yesterday.

Big Jim advocated for Currie. $$ talks and BS walks.

Press Conference attendance isn't an indicator of support or a lack therof. Folks will be there because they are required to be there based on their ties to the University. Those things are just sunshine pumping kumbaya sessions anyway. Nothing to see here.

Manning was put on a "search firm" so whoever Davenport rolled out there everyone would clap their hands and pee their pants because the beloved Manning must have hand picked him. Manning is pissed, he was used as a scapegoat by the University he loves. He and that committee were behind Fulmer all the way, why do you think all that Fulmer stuff got out? They put it out there to try to enforce Davenports hand. New leadership, same old BS.

What you're saying makes sense but I gotta ask, are the references to Manning and the committee reactions speculation or is there some info to that effect?
