In selecting a coach, Tennessee has to take into consideration how they keep current players from bailing and how they retain their top five recruiting class. In that vain, they cannot afford to choose just any coach. To me they will need to make a named hire that is familiar to basketball recruits. At rock bottom, they are going to have to offer a salary of at least 1.250 million dollars annually. There are too many SEC teams that are trending up while Tennessee is trending down to make an unknown or untested hire.
Which ones have “thrived “ in the current system??Not my take on it
experience, knowledge, familiarity, talent
One piece missing
Girls have to be able to fully vent to one of their coaches, or they will fully vent to their teammates
Players have to have a person in the mix that will listen, understand, advise and will take their legitimate concerns to the HC
Each player will pick the one coach/admin they feel they can be vulnerable="their comfortable self" around
Some players thrive in CHW's system, some struggle...The ones that are inconsistent and struggling are unique
Are you on crackLet me start out by saying my choices may not come and depending on how much money I have to work with but... if I was the AD, McGraw from Notre Dame and Walz would have to tell me NO!!! Then I would probably move to Mitchell from UK. He seems to do more with less and think he would do great with our roster. He seems to do a great job developing players.
I know the university probably would not hire him and he may not be interested but on a fun note I would love to see Bruce Pearl coach the women. He loves the university and Pat Summit and I think the players would love playing for him. I think it would be exciting to see.
