So what was it like inside BMS?

It was awesome man
Only negative really was sometimes the TV didn't follow the ball closely and it was hard to tell what happened. They seemed to get that straightened out towards the end though. The atmosphere was great after we started coming back down 14 lol

Just looking at the crowd on the TV it was mostly UT Orange, I'd say 2-1 Vols. Does that seem right to y'all who were at the game?

2 to 1 or even 3 to 1 are reasonable estimates. The Va Tech side was the same side as the main cameras showing the game. But... those sideline cameras were aimed at the field most of the time and not the UT sections on the other side of the field and most of either end zone.

Could they have picked a bigger plane for the flyover.. Geez, what a Monster. Was it a B-52?

I think it was a C5
They usually have a least a couple of fighter jets go over before each race.

Still talking Big, one of the best fireworks displays I've ever seen happened leaving the stadium. Shot those babies off the top of a nearby mountain and it was wonderful. It was obvious to me, at that point - that the folks that put this on sincerely wanted this to be one of the best experiences for the crowd.

They actually have a big fireworks display at all of the races. The hill is right behind my house.

Yes have been to several races within last 15 years when NASCAR was really strong. QUOTE]

You've been to that many races and did not know to just go to another gate. We just walked around to the shortest line and walked in. Once inside you can walk wherever you want. Yes I have been to a lot of races too.

Saw gate 13 went to other side 9 & 8 were the same. Walked down to 5 and got inline since it was the same. Line length didn't determine the time to get in since some gates were using the metal detectors and some stopped.

Thanks for the implication of my intelligence that I'm not smart enough to switch lines.

This was my experience. Glad I went. Happy we won. Neyland stadium is 1000 times better.

It was fun to be part if history and the day but I would honestly say I would not go again. When college games aren't played on campuses it just has a different feel.

It was a great experience except for that strange giant bulb in the sky that punished me for standing under it whilst having a good time for several hours.Who knew?

I sense a common theme to this post...are you a member of MADD? If not, you might want to explore joining as I think it would be right up your alley.

I'm not how sure she ever attends a college football game "drama" free. All of these issues happen everywhere at some point in time.

I'm glad I went. We sat in Junior Johnson row 18...near goal line. View was better than I expected.

Not sure I would go again. The lines to get into the stadium were awful.

The wife and I had an amazing time. Tent camped at Dave and Kay's Campground. Drove up Friday and relaxed all day at our spot on Saturday, before walking in for the Vol Walk. Plenty of people partying and having a good time around us, but everyone had plenty of room and it seemed like a good time was had by all.

We went in right after the Vol Walk. There was no wait at our gate. We had to wait a little bit at the elevators, but probably only 15 minutes or so.

As others have said, they weren't prepared for the concessions. My wife waited for a while in the third quarter for a couple of waters, but luckily she could see the field from the line. They were out of hot dogs.

We had probably close to the "worst" seats in the house. Wallace tower. Great for pics, but hilariously far from the field. I watched the game through binoculars.

Overall we had an amazing time. Felt more like Bonnaroo than a football game at times, which was fun. I'd go again in five years, but would try to get seats along the sidelines.

We had no trouble getting in, but we were going through the gate at 6:00. We were through security in less than 5 minutes. Our camping and parking situation was great so I've got nothing to complain about.

I'd go every year if they'd keep doing it.

BocaVol, did you go in through Gate 8, as did thousands and thousands including us? It was horrible... took us an hour and half to get through that pathetic security.. they had almost 4 years to get things ironed out but only had two metal detectors operating but finally opened up them all. I'd bet a plug nickel to a dime lots missed kick off and pregame.. We were in JJ,D Row 3 and were very happy with our seats- it almost felt like we were in an inside area..

It took us from almost midnight until 3am to get to our cabin in Elizabethton.. traffic control at BMS sucked big time... we were leaving Lot E and had to wait until the shuttle busses were loaded.. Like Mr. Peach said, he now has a much better appreciation for traffic control around Neyland after a game...

All in all our experience was good but would've been better had we been able to hook up with our friends but things happen and all of us were very happy with a "W"...

So funny people were talking crap about not being able to see well. Biggest game in history, I'm glad none of those idiots were there, I had fun without them. Could see fine.

Biggest game in history.

You don't drive an orange Cummins Ram do you? Passed one decked out in UT stuff coming back up 65 heading to Columbus(IN).

Yes, we went through Gate 8...and it was horrible. It was confusing as 8 & 9 were so close. We walked past it and noticed no one from the sides were moving. We turned back and hit it straight on and it took about 10 minutes once we figured it out.

I work at VT. Sat in Pearson in heart of VT section with a bunch of coworkers. The 1st quarter was hell on those of us in orange sitting on that side. The next run of 45-3 changed the mood veeeeeery quickly. Most fans around me thought the fix was in and the refs were pulling for UT. The refs don't fumble the balls 5 times.

I was in section J as well, with a ton of VT people. Things definitely got a bit chippy between fans in the first quarter, but overall I think most of the interactions were pretty amiable between fans. My uncle wore a UT cap and VaTech shirt, and was asked about it by a number of fans (though mostly VaTech fans). He grew up in East TN, played at Dobyns Bennett, and then played on scholarship at Virginia Tech, so it was great being able to share in the festivities with him.
There was a VT fan behind us yelling about the fix being in and refs wearing an orange shirt under their uniform after they had a string of flags against them, but I just laughed it off as frustration. I mean VaTech just self destructed, and I can remember experiencing that a few times as a Vol fan as well.

There was no way we could move out of the crowd so we stayed put. We were in the middle of the mob with two sides closing in on us.. very frustrating. Once we got through the very end metal detector people started climbing over the gates, LOL and the police weren't paying attention to us poor hot, wringing wet souls.. There was about to be a riot had they not opened more detectors- strange they knew how many people would be there yet they still manage to screw it up..

It was bad! What time did you arrive? We got in around 7:30 ish. I can't believe how steep the stands were.

The 19 people in my group got through gate 8 in minutes. We allowed plenty of time though because of the crowd size. I believe too many people treated their entry time as if they were at Neyland with 100k people well versed in the layout.

Boca, we got in line like between 6 and 6:30 I believe and didn't get in until like 7:45'ish. We felt like we got in line early enough to get in, and so did tons of other's.. Those stands were steep and I can't imagine how tiny the field looked from those so far away..
