So what happens when we stink next year.

Still to be determined if we will stink it up we might be a top three SEC team again. I realize a lot has to happen but if everything happens then were right there. Stokes returns for his Senior season, Rhett and Miller become Vols, Hubbs plays like a five star. These four things alone makes us top three in the SEC.

Instead of getting rid of Cuonzo and collecting 1.3 million it looks like we are probably gonna give him an extension. What happens next year when we go to the NIT or worse. We will probably get rid of him anyway but instead will pay a big buyout. This may be one of the dumbest moves in Tennessee history. :banghead2:

Sorry the dumbest move in UT history was Dooley

The problem is we are expected to be bad next year, and we had the talent to be good this year. Yes, we tightened up and played to our ability at the tourney, but this season was an emotional soap opera of underachieving kids the coach was a big reason. I don't think many will expect much unfortunately until two seasons from now and then we will suck again when we are not supposed to.... then hopefully we will do the buy-out and start over.

We won't suck next year.

(1) Martin returns.

(2) Stokes may sneak in to the late 2nd round of the draft, so he will return for his senior year and improve his draft status.

(3) Richardson will improve ALOT over the summer and will replace McRae, as a leader

(4) The foward from TSU will transfer to U.T. and he will fill in where Maymon was.

(5) Team has gotten a taste of the NCAA & of the Sweet 16 and will be hungry for more, so they will play more disciplined and have better results.

(6) thompson will shine because he will be the starter and not coming off of the bench.

(7) Hubbs will be healthy.....

Doesn't make it a miracle.

who said it was a miracle? Seriously, show me that post. Furthermore, it doesn't have to be a miracle. I wasn't aware that Sweet 16 runs only counted if they were comparable to the US beating Russia in the 1980 Olympic games. I don't care HOW they got there, I care that they got there.

I also think Cornish and Cofer will contribute. I think Cofer will develop and be a nice addition. Also, don't forget about AJ Davis. You also Have Armani Moore who will get more time and is a nice defender, and Reese will continue to grow. I am optimistic.

I have no issue with demanding the best from coaches that our university pays a ton of money, and I don't think it makes you less of a fan if you demand the best or want better, but to automatically speculate we are going to stink next year, after coming off of a sweet 16 run, makes me question how a small portion of our fan base functions in day to day life. It is as though you small group of people are so miserable that you have to focus and highlight every negative to make yourselves feel better. I swear that small group would demand a coaching change if we won 3 out of 4 national championships and went to the NIT in the 4th year, y'all would demand change based on the NIT year...... ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS!!!!

Cuonzo just won 3 games in the NCAAT

All of us hoped to get in the sweet 16, and EXPECTED at least one tourney win

and the fact that we got screwed out of the elite eight for a chance to make it to the final 4??? Cuonzo deserves another shot...

Year one we were picked 11th in the conference. We finished 2nd. Year 2 we were without Maymon and still won 20 games and landed a five star recruit. Oh and we were one team away from being in the tournament. 290 other teams wished they were as close. This year we did have some bad losses but Memorial and luck played a role in that. We made it to the Sweet Sixteen and some good halftime adjustments almost had us in the Elite Eight.

Why are you so sure next year is lost?

Why would someone jump on the Martin train? For one miracle, Cinderella like season? He is still mediocre.

My initial response was to BOT. I was agreeing with him, and saying it wasn't even a miracle because we simply beat a bunch of nobodies.

What happens if you were actually supportive of the coach and the team?

I for one am supportive of both, but do I have to be happy being a mid level SEC team that is constantly on the bubble, compete hard (or not) for the NIT and maybe make an occasional NCAA run? Should I be content with CCM chastising me as a fan when I want the team to evolve into an elite program, but get upset when the team under performs and remains mediocre?

All I want is for my Vols to be a top SEC program, win enough to be a fixture in the big dance, be a top 10 or 15 program and fill TBA with energized and happy fans. Maybe CCM found the key to start a winning trend with our finish this season. I sure hope so, but the proof is yet to come. The question is....am I expecting too much?
