So what’s the breakdown on Purdue

This is going to be a tough win without Alontae.

Our LB's don't cover passes well and our secondary is avg.

Purdue 41
UT 38

wish Taylor could be convinced to play. Facing a big passing team, bet he could get some good plays on tape to show Pro scouts.

Teams threw away from him this year for the most part. Could be that he got better or that Burrell was just that vulnerable.

Me neither. Both played and made some plays. Time to step up big.

Me too. It opens up some opportunities for pass rush that a running QB burns. Purdue allows a few sacks.

For certain. And as dependent as Purdue is on their QB... I'm not sure you shouldn't invite him to run by blitzing.

Agree, in particular on the pass rush part. Hope Burns and company work hard on some blitzes. Finally a QB that’s not much of a running threat. Let’s take advantage of it and bring the heat!

Yeah there best receiver opting out makes alontae opting out non existent. They have little to no running game

I think we win by 2 TDs. If there is one thing Tennessee does, it’s beating Big 10 teams.

Karlaftis is the DE.

High motor, trending toward a top 10 pick next Spring. He can take a game over or force a team to change up plans with extra protection.

I would be fine if he sits the game out to prep for the draft.

Purdue was literally only winning in one or two frames of that entire highlight reel.

I think they are a team that got up for big games and went through the motions in the others. This usually is the type of team that bettors stay away from when teams like this play in a low or mid-tier Bowl.

I was paying attention to their best player on defense, not the scores of the games.

Thought the scores and competition not to mention level of talent was just as important while looking at a single player’s collegiate football career worth of work in four minutes.

Wisconsin literally handed him the ball twice and still Purdue was down by double digits. He did look like King Kong against a 1-7 Northwestern team. Heck after 2.5 minutes and the umpteenth clip of seeing him leave a path of destruction thru Indiana and Illinois with his team still getting smacked in the mouth, tells me he can’t, “single handily” can’t take over the game. I’m sure CJH knows how to handle overly aggressive DE’s and LB’s.
(And doesn’t HH have this nice stat I read the other day on Volnation about being THE BEST QB in the conference or maybe the nation when under pressure by The D.)

IMO this is an indication of how overblown all the talk is on how much trouble him and the next coming of Randy Moss will cause our Vols come game day, if the two blue chip juggernauts even play..Not taking anything away from either ones ability, they will
Have a shot to play on Sunday no doubt I’m sure but a top 10 pick in the NFL draft?? or a first even second round pick??
Wish them the best of luck after the game.

their qb really can put the ball all over the place. if our pass rush doesn't get there, he's really going to pick our db's apart :(

God, i hope bell decides to sit out this "meaningless" bowl game

highlights vs michigan state:

Go to the play at 5:20...wow.....

Admittedly I haven’t searched overly hard, but I have yet to find a good synopsis on Purdue this season.

I know they beat UM but looking at their record they don’t necessarily have a huge wow factor (I’m sure they’d say the same about us).

So for anyone who keeps up with them, what’s the skinny?
They did not beat UM; they defeated Michigan State. Anyway, it should be an easy game for the VOLS. There's talk that their starting QB is opting out of the game as well as their best defensive player.

Purdue head coach Brohm was in the mix to take the Tennessee job after Jones was fired so that will be a much hyped story line.

You are absolutely right.

Obviously have a lot better handle on the pulse of the NFL Draft than Mel Kiper.

Don't be fooled by Karlaftis only having two sacks this season. He affects games in other ways and his pressure numbers (16%) stack up well next to the best edge rushers in the country. He gets double-teamed often along the Purdue front and he is physical in fighting through them. He's tough -- he plays to the whistle and runs down whoever has the ball. Karlaftis played just three games last season; a positive COVID-19 test in November cut short a promising campaign. As a freshman in 2019, he had 7.5 sacks and 17 total tackles for loss. I think he will test well at the combine too.

Or the guys at Pro Football Focus who have him tabbed at 6 overall.

2022 NFL Mock Draft: Detroit Lions draft Aidan Hutchinson at No. 1, QB Kenny Pickett lands with the Houston Texans at No. 3 | NFL Draft | PFF

Best news I seen all day. Why the Texans will always be the Texans I guess and the Titans will continue to own them for the foreseeable future.
I don’t know if he goes number 1 or undrafted. I don’t keep up with Purdue and can name one QB maybe 2, no just 1 off the top of my head that ever even went there.
I never said any round or pick this Phenom game changer goes too... hell if he’s as good as you say he is I’m hoping he goes the Titans or Saints.
I was pretty much saying exactly what I said, how can anyone”single handily” take over a game when 80% of your highlights are taken when your team is losing by multiple touchdowns. I’m sure he’s great but TN has faced great most of the season and I think TN puts 40-50 on them.
Your boy will play well I’m sure may even get him a sack during trash time cause Milton forgets to take a knee!!! GO VOLS!

I got hammered by A holes in the other thread just for saying that it’s going to be a tough game and that UT should respect Purdue and what they’ve done this year, so…

They are weak sacks of human flesh with no spine and UT is gonna run through them like they were a wet paper bag. They have a garbage schedule and the Big 10 is full of wimpy teams that are no match for a mediocre SEC team. Complete domination. Oh, and my opinion is garbage.

Yes the team that lost to Minnesota and Couldn’t move the ball vs Illinois and Oregon St definitely is scary. Can’t imagine why posters laugh at that opinion of yours

Purdue 2 best players gone
I've read and heard that it's a concern, but I've not seen that officially announced. Where did you see this? Of course, the flip side of this is that when a player goes down or leaves, the entire position group tends to elevate their play to compensate. We are talkin' UT here so with our luck.....:(:(
