I was just talking to a new employee at work and I noticed her Titans cup. Told her how I'm a huge Titans fan. She says she's a bigger Vols fan because her brother plays for UT. I'm not going to give away his name but he's a junior and listed at 6'1 220 on utsports.com.

I asked her what he thought of Dooley and she said that he's ok, but that her brother loves Sal. I asked why the "ehhh Dooley's ok" response. She gave me an example. She said "you know when Fulmer was here he was all about 'we're a family' and Saban is all about 'this is a business, everyone has a job to do." So I said yeah I understand that. She said well Dooley preaches "we're a family" but with the team he's very "business like" and it annoys some of the players.

I asked if most players feel like that and she said no it's mostly the older guys. I assume these are the guys he didn't recruit. She said the younger guys actually like Dooley.

One thing that concerned me is that she said her brother isn't that into football. Well she said he's indifferent about it, and that track was more his thing.

She said that the players love Herman Lathers, and that he's the only defensive leader on the team at the moment. She said that a lot of guys on defense say they wished he was able to stay another year after this because they're not sure who the leader will be next year.

She also said that the coaches want her brother to get bigger because he's only 218 at the moment and they want him closer to 240. She said he's at 4% body fat and just can't gain. They go out to eat and he has two meals and still can't gain any weight.(wish I had that problem)

She said before the Kentucky game that the coaches were very negative. Saying "hope you boys got your bags packed cause you're not going to a bowl game" I know that's just a motivation ploy so I didn't view that as negative. Had plenty of coaches tell us that when we were taking an opponent too lightly. She said the staff can be pretty harsh on the players and negative.

On a side note I'm ready for a great season. Hope that the guys buy into what they're teaching over there. If we can pull out a win against NC State it will be a great sign. I think that we will since NC State tends to start the season slow. They also got blown out by the only common opponent that we had in common with them last year. I think they lost to Cincinnati 44-12 or something, and we all know what we did to Cinci with a healthy team. I'm sticking with 9wins including a bowl win, so 8 regular season. GO VOLS.

Which Junior was recruited and played for Fulmer?

I don't think she was implying that her brother was recruited by Fulmer. I think she was just making a point that Dooley says one thing in public but practices another behind closed doors.

But how would they know that Fulmer did without first hand knowledge?

I would rather have a coach that is business like anyways, when it comes to the game itself. I have seen a few examples that shows there is a family atmosphere though, like hike up Mt. LeConte for one. The leaked locker room scene.

That's just what she said so I figured I'd pass it along. I'm not sure how she knows what Fulmer practiced etc.

Please don't kill the messenger.

This is one of those moments where you tell the OP, "Cool story brah." Shake your head and walk away.

Just having some fun with you. It's pretty much common knowledge at this point that the holdovers don't like Dooley, and that the young bucks do. Dooley has also preached from day one about "going to work" and "doing what is best for the organization".

Thanks for the story though.

The height and weight you gave didn't match anyone on utsports like us said it did. Say who it is. Outside of a fifth year senior or medical redshirt player, only 8 players on the roster would have been through a season with Fulmer.
