So freaking sick

No way to spin the season now. It officially is a disappointing season. I don't care to hear about the injuries and defections. We lost to a team that may be worse than Ky 2011. But, I will say I would hate to see what bama would do to our defense right now. It would be a massacre.

Either Butch WINS the CONFERENCE next year and is in the playoffs or you FIRE him. Or I find something more productive to do on Saturdays.

You could take up playing the accordian. Good luck with that, whatever you pursue.

Does anyone know when the last time we beat UF and UGA in a season and the Coaching staff manage to screw themselves out of a sec east championship?????

1992. Pretty similar to this season actually. Started 5-0 then lost 3 in a row to Arkansas, Bama, and South Carolina. Won the rest of our games. Here's hoping we can at least do that.

Not very many........

It's "fans" like these posting all this garbage that got us into this mess calling for coaching change in '08. They was *****ing then and they're *****ing now, what do they want? can't please some people.

It's all about what you expect as a fan. Some fans are ok with winning 8 games and going to outback bowls. I've seen us be a better program than that, and I won't be happy with us not competing for sec championships. And, the key to competing for sec championships is making the sec title game. Which we should have done this yr. We are better, but were still a middle tier sec team. I think we can do better.

Some of you have the emotional capacity of a 14 year old girl. Did none of you watch football last weekend? Sometimes teams lose to inferior competition. That doesn't make it okay but calling for your coach to be fired with only 3 loses is bush league. Some of you don't deserve to see TN win the East.

Apparently, karma's a b*tch.

Oh my; to go through life with such a pessimistic, cynical and combative way at looking at everything has got to be tiring. As an alum from the 80's I wonder what these threads would look like when I was there. Honestly, Majors would have been fired after my first year in 1981. We had a mediocre year and went to the "Garden State" bowl. Some of the sad individuals on this board would have had him drawn and quartered.

These blood sucking vampires could not have handled Johnny. Their hearts would have stopped after a few drops.

I was around too. Back then if someone went off like that too much, they got took out behind the barn, and everyone else swore the perp was with them at a bowling alley. Good ole days.

I agree completely, I have nothing to go on except for past results and those told me that our once strong program had fallen to the depths of the college football cellar like D2, FCS levels, not to mention dead last in the SEC. So I take the word of the staff and administration when they say they had to rebuild the entire program including the once proud storied foundation.

Now with that being said I try to use common sense with knowing the strength of the SEC and understand that this can/could take a while.

This job was unique from say a Florida or Arkansas etc. job due to the fact that those programs still had some talent in the cupboard so to speak. We was decimated due to poor recruiting for our program from previous regime.

This is what I base my stance on when making my statements/posts. While I'm not "happy" with where we are, I'm very pleased with continued improvement each year.

What I think a lot of posters don't understand (and I could be dead wrong) is that when CBJ was hired, he and AD Hart was in agreement that this wasn't going to be a quick fix. Therefore I believe based on comments from previous press conferences from both our coach and our AD that we are on par with the "timeline" set by both parties. Now have there been disappointments and total meltdowns on some occasions? Absolutely there have been. I do however believe we have over achieved in some areas while underachieving in others.

For 1 we have a pretty decent starting lineup when healthy, we could compete with any one in the country, but we don't quite have the quality depth in place to not be exposed to weaknesses as we've witnessed throughout this year. Now some say it's on the coaches and while I agree again I have to look back at our past classes since this staff took over. You have to remember the numbers are always limited. The 1st couple of years we oversigned and worked loop holes and used every color of a shirt we could use to get talent on campus. While this was great and exciting at the time it has limited us in our most recent class to where now we're having to be very picky due to limited numbers to work with. IMO it's easier to recruit your talent for starters while it takes longer to develop your depth.

That's just my opinion and my view from which I make my comments. I've rambled long enuff now just trying to explain my views.

Quote of the Year:

" We’re going to stop the run. Nobody will run the football on the Orange Swarm. Nobody will run the football on Tennessee."-Bob Shoop.

Is THIS an actual quote? If so, then it it ranks right up there with "You can keep your doctor..."Never had sex with that woman..." I didn't inhale...ad nauseam. Guess Shoop's words won't be etched on the ROCK. :whistling:

From the looks of this thread, UT must have got WiFi in all of it's safe spaces. The whiny precious snowflakes are out in mass after we win by 26 points.

If you think that was a good win your part of the problem. We were lucky to survive that game because Missouri is a dumpster fire on defense also. To give up those yards to them is pathetic.

I'm not saying I'm going to give up Vol football, it will never happen no matter how bad. But if Butch doesn't win the SEC next year and he isn't fired then it's obvious UT isn't committed to winning no matter what, so I will not tell my wife that I will put the games before everything else. I will be more likely to let football fall in the ranks of priority. I can't keep investing my life into more losing much longer lol UT is on the brink of accepting mediocrity and when it's apparent the program is okay with it, I will lose interest and prioritize differently.

Ive stuck it out and defended everything as long as I could. You're ok with this performance today? I'm tired of losing and not winning a division title. Something even South Carolina has done twice since UT has. Glad you're happy with today's embarrassing win.
Glad Dobbs blew it up and went out in style. He deserves to be remembered as an all timer.

Advice: do this anyway.

I read you whinny brats and I think, Hmmm... wouldn't it be great if UT went on a five year long run of only 3 or 4 win seasons? All this brass balls chaff would melt and blow away like the fair weather fans they are.

You guys are pathetic. We will most likely go 9-3 with wins against everyone in the east except a fluke loss due to poor team attitude, and you hate the team. Personally, I'm seeing effort from them so I'll support them as long as they are trying. Go ahead...flame away. It won't bother me one bit.
poor attitude? How about piss poor game plan from our coaching staff and holding him responsible

At least UT doesn't have play Alabama and get another beatdown

As much as I agree with you, it pains me to see this.

This was touted as our year. It didn't work out for whatever reason or combination of 500 reasons. It is what it is. However, at some point we either need to learn to keep our expectations low or we need to live up to them.
