So, about that OC position.... (Merged)

At first, I thought the Doug Matthews 95% comment was BS. Here's how it could make sense. Pruitt wants to promote from within, likely Ovoset. However, he spends an insane amount of time doing his due diligence to see if there's anyone else out there that he likes better for the OC role. He's 95% sure he's promoting from within and the other 5% is the due diligence. Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you Coach Joe Ovoset.

How do you know this?

Would love to get trolled hard by Pruitt by announcing Friend as the OC, just to see a few here get all excited and celebrate being right.
And no frickin way Im driving under any bridges in Knoxville based on the amount of angst here on Friend lol.

Every Coach announced by the Media, Fanbase, or other outlets has it's value. We have either passed or they have moved on or they have possibly stated no.

In the past, Our coaching searches have been what most would call and in reality disasters or greatly influenced by boosters. All have been outside more or less without the purview of Fulmer (exception Pruitt). Most hires were poorly handled or poorly vetted or not qualified.

As a result we have been the butt of many jokes, dysfunctional, and showed the signs of an entitled and ungrateful fanbase which cried foul when hires were made. Schiano.

Speculation has kicked in that we are headed in the same direction.....The OC hire is the same; however, it appears that CJP and Fulmer are choosing to keep this hire totally close to their chest and are unwilling to divulge any information.... Interviews conducted for the sake of interviewing...how many offers, we may never know...That's just the way they wanted it.

OC in Playoffs, OC coming from NFL, OC coming from staff or coach unknown...

Where is a the misdirection coming from regarding this hire?

I think they have a plan and not in any hurry. Unfortunate for all of us.

Has it affected recruiting? Don't think so, but none of us can state with any validity that it has or has not......

Probably already posted, but per Swain and Brice they've talked to Sark and Canada in the last two days

au contraire .... I will, as always, take the high road and bask in my glory quietly, with consummate dignity.

It my opinion if we dont announce one by national signing day it will hurt us very much with the remaining recruits. It will be used against us in the recruiting field.

If we don't have an OC a month from now, Pruitt and Fulmer both are incompetent and probably shouldn't be in the positions they're in.

Even if a bad hire is made, I doubt it will be that late.

Under the circumstances, I don't think that would be considered taking the high road. I'm certain I would prefer to see your honest emotional state.

So a question... What is the rush for hiring a OC? UT only has a few remaining targets left to get signed. They seemingly are shooting for another WR.. Wright seems to be all Vol... The rest maybe on the defensive side of the ball.. It's months before spring practice starts. So only issue is getting a guy before he gets hired up.. If that happens.. Pruitt has two guys that he can promote from within... So why the rush? Pruitt is seemingly wanting a OC that he is comfortable with and is apparently talking with coaches to find what he wants... I would rather him take all the time he wants than rush hire and be unsatisfied. I don't see how it's affecting the current team at this moment in time having a OC or not.. My thoughts on it all...

I don't doubt that he actually offered Yurchic, but I'd be far more troubled if he didn't. One of the top producing OCs in college football and he's willing to move from his current job, and you don't even offer him? Odd decision at best.

Put on your tinfoil hats...

Brent Key has left Bama for GT.

Saban comes calling to Will Friend.

We go and get Chaney and Pittman. 🤯🤯🤯

Tell you what. To show I'm a good sport, an avatar bet. If it's Friend, I pick your avatar for a month. If it's not, you pick mine for a month. As long as it doesn't violate Freak's standards for avatars, anything goes.

What say ye?

Okay, first of all this started with me saying it could be Friend, but not for the reason everyone was saying. I'll never believe that. But, I still feel confident its not him UNLESS it comes down to no other choice. So no, I not comfortable with a bet, even an avatar bet. Seriously, I so hope they don't, but Pruitt and Fulmer could surprise me and "drop the ball".

Second, the thing now that's interesting to me is how you really seem to hope you're right and it is Friend. I mean, this late in the game and it turning out to be Friend, for whatever the reason, should not be anything to be happy about.

Well, I'm a bit disappointed. I meant no harm, just wanted to have some fun with what has become quite a trial in finding an OC. If I'm wrong, I will gladly suffer my punishment, all in good fun. But, so be it.

I don't WANT it to be Friend, necessarily...but to be honest, we have no evidence he's not the next Uber-OC just waiting to be discovered. But, I know how this usually goes. The longer it drags on, the more other programs find their next OC and we don't, the more certain it becomes. It's just reality at this point. Being happy and being right are not always the same thing.
