i really hope its not sark. he won't be here long as hes trying to get hc again. plus with his drinking issues, i don't know how he can be seen as reliable. also haven't been that impressed with his offenses much.

His offense's were good when he was at Washington and USC. He's not been great in Atlanta but I think he's one of those guys who could be a better College Coach. There haven't been any more mention of him still having drinking issues, although there's much worse stuff he could have done. But that all seems to be in the past now. The drinking issues were 3+ yrs ago. He wouldn't be a bad hire and has always been known as a great recruiter. A better choice than Helton was. I'm still hoping it's Chaney but he's got it made in GA.

i can tell you for certain, a guy who was showing up to practice trashed does not just put it all behind him, even tho 3 years ago. he'll be battling that issue the rest of his life. i just can't see a college hiring him for anything long term. also, he's never really been anywhere long enough to truly establish a record of developing talent. i really don't see where the sark hype comes from.

I think it will be too. They have worked together and there's familiarity. Think Kitchens would have been a possibility if it wasn't promoted to full time OC. I'm betting Sark gets named around Jan 2nd or 3rd.

Agreed. It’s a good fit and makes the most sense.

1)His offense improved by about 15 points a game his first year at UW.
2) What does it matter? Hes an alcoholic not a criminal. He wasn't buying alcohol for under age girls like Kiffin (he was drinking it all himself). He screwed himself out of a couple of million dollars and I'm pretty sure he got divorced. We bring in Leonard Little and, Stallworth to speak to the team about their bad choices. If he got help and Pruitt thinks hes a good choice then why should a disease he has keep him from gainful employment? I guess you know better than Nick Saban and Arthur Blank.

We will find out which school he is coming from shortly after their team plays their respective bowl game

Spurrier was 5-6 his first yr as a college HC. Honestly I'm not sure many, if any veteran HC's could have done any better with the mess JP walked in to.
Just curious, does it strike you as odd that the overall narrative completely changed after we got blow out a few time and Pruitt began basically saying there was nothing he could do to make the team better?

Absolutely. I would love it to be Chaney. Plus taking him from Kirby would make it even sweeter.[/B] I don't have any inside info or anything but just based on chatter those 2 seem to be odds on faves. We couldn't go wrong with either.

That would be a WIN, WIN!!

Maybe after the Liberty bowl? Feels like FSU's situation. We apparently interviewed Yurcich, meshed well, and then went totally quiet.

There are plenty of recovering alcoholics with years of sobriety functioning well in society, but they’ll be the first to tell you that they have to be smart about what situations they get into.

Problem drinkers who are actively drinking are apt to make bad decisions, get into personality clashes, and lie to themselves and others. Sark might be ready for a P5 position, and maybe not. None of us know, and if he’s 12-stepping, he’ll admit that he doesn’t know either.

I sure can’t hold it against him. I’ve been drunk all day.

I didn't take it as 'odd'. Pruitt strikes me as a guy that simply states what's on his mind ...when he states anything at all. If he basically said after a string of blow outs that he could not do any thing else to improve the team ...it sounds to me that he was resigned after doing everything that he could possibly do. What he could possibly do was probably everything in his knowledge base and he probably picked the brains of guys like Fulmer and Saban and probably 100 other people that know football inside and out. So I am sure he was resigned. I did not see it as a narrative , but more of a guy saying what he was thinking without a filer or 'Butch-speak'.

It is not unrealistic or unexpected for a 4 with team to remain a bad team the following season. I think Pruitt elected to install his systems rather than try to improve the existing systems ( IE installing a 3-4 while he only had unsuccessful 4-3 guys to run it ) . The same with installing a pro-style offense with a collection of guys that were not very good at running the spread. It was probably a calculated choice based on the following ….we will be bad either way . Right wrong or somewhere in the middle it is what he chose to do. For most teams that suck , there is a period of inconsistent success . We had a little more success that we did last season , and we were inconsistent. No guarantee of success there ...but they were both there .

Our OC IS STILL CALLING PLAYS IN THE NFL HE WILL BE HERE AFTER THE FIRST OF THE YEAR.
Yep college is over for most teams and if it’s an NFL guy in the playoffs it won’t be announced until that team is out. If it’s a college bowl team it won’t be announced till that team’s season is over. One of those 2 options I’m thinking..

When you say "resigned" do you mean quit? If so, is that what you want in a coach?

As for the narrative, I didnt mean from pruitt, I mean from the fanbase.

As for his being an alcoholic, we all love Coach Majors and he can drink with the best of them.
