I didn't know that Vandy was playing at home for the first round seeing how that is their only advantage.

ALSO, the THUGcats will make history this year by being the first #1 seed to be beat by a #16. GO ETSU!!!!!!!!!!

Tennessee got hosed, BUT what if Pearl asked the NCAA to put them there to spark his team?

I owe all the Steve Pearl haters an apology, he is TERRIBLE. I hope he gets mop up duty in the NCAA's at best. More than 2 minutes on the court is 2 too many.

We are a top 30-35 team, to think otherwise is foolish.

I can think of 30 teams in the tournament that are better than we are, we are NOT very good we have overachieved... Away from the Tommy Bowl we are AWFUL if we played at home we are a top 30 team, on neutral ground I'm not sure we are top 40.. At times our coach has a line-up on the court that couldn't score against NAIA teams.. We'll be extremely lucky to win 1 and if we do I'm afraid we'll get embarrased in round two just like yesterday...

Vol teams (excepting Pat's Lady Vols) have had a tendency toward lackadaisicalness or overconfidence and under-performance. Football and basketball. Is it something about the great living here. Maybe Knoxville is just a place where you can't keep an edge on young athletes. It's just too nice ... ??

Two points:

Obviously the NCAA has no respect for Tennesee. The only way to get that respect is to go out and win your games and advance.

This is the fifth year Tennessee is in the tournament.

All Tennessee needs to do is beat their teams in their bracket. Then Tennesse will have earned the right to tell the NCAA where they can stick it.

Hard to understand a six. Think UT is the only team to have beaten two number one seeds although, UL beat the Orange twice.

As mmmjtx says however, you need to go out and win to prove the committee wrong.

A UK fan.

Anyone who thinks SPearl deserves playing time is a guy who doesn't like winning u do NOT win with guys like him on your team. He is WORST player in the whole NCAA tournament bar none... We play "Daddy Ball" we won't last long - daddy will play his junior...

One thing positive from SPearl playing he gives inspiration to every 6-4 un-athletic white guy post player in high school across the Country he inspires them that u can play at D1... We may have 4 million guys try-out for our team next year they must think "if that guy can get minutes then I know I can"... At least he is giving inspiration to millions of guys

I think the committee saw TN not show up ready to play enough times ESPECIALLY at neutral sites or on the road.

First, you need to go back and take first grade math over.

Second, we're probably not a top 25 team to be honest.

First, I'm pissed off so I made a mistake, it happens, it doesn't mean I need to re-learn my multiplication factors.

Second, we have been a top 25 team from Week 1. We went into the SEC tourney ranked in the top 15. So why should we drop out of the top 25 with a loss to UK?

And I also want to wish my ETSU boys good luck. If their going to kill us, we might as well take out Walls and Cousins while were at it.

First of all...I would rather be a 6 than a 4-5. I don't want to play a 1 until we have to. Especially one we have already beaten. We have just witnessed how well we do in rematches of upsets.

Second, our snub is nothing compared to MSU getting JOBBED! What the heck? Even the devil in Lexington was politicking for them!

Finally, Gannon...I am going to need avatar information! LOL

In the overall scheme of life does it make an ounce of difference? NO!

Nope, not really. a 13 or 12 seed has just as much chance of winning as an 11. Tennessee was going to have to bring it no matter who we played

I am going to assume that you are being sarcastic here because otherwise there's no way you'd be wasting valuable hours of your life on a sports message board.

Well, getting your ass hammered the day before selection Sunday will certainly effect seeding...

I Agree, also

USC lost by 22

Vandy lost by 29

Florida lost by 13

Kentucky lost by 29

We can blame the seeding on these 3 road (1 Nuetral) losses. I think we were a 4-5 but u can't argue. No 4-5 seeds lost by 30 yesterday....JMO

We have been ranked in the top 25 all year long, so obviously people with a greater knowledge than you think differently.

Stop whining...... that's what they deserve due to lack of effort and being blown out. A high seed only means your first game is a "usually" a gimmie. Suit up and get ready to play because all the other teams will bring their A Game.

Just b/c we were ranked in there doesn't mean that we were actually a top 25 team. I've been saying for a while that UT isn't very good. Anyone that knows basketball and has watched UT play should know that we aren't that great.

The Vols have a decent, above-average team in a weak conference. It's clear that the committee thinks us more pretenders than true contenders, and who can blame them? Yes, we beat no. 1 twice at home--very nice wins--but geez, the Vols looked pathetic against kentucky; when Chism was out, the team was embarrassingly overmatched against the cats when we had the ball--looked like a high-school team trying to score. The guard play was BAD--and it seems like Chism is ALWAYS on the bench with foul trouble.

IN any case, I do think we should have been a 5 seed, not a 6, but seedings are more than a bit subjective and always arguable one way or another. If I thought the Vol truly a chance to make noise in the tourney, I might be more upset. But it's been obvious for a while that we are basically a one and done--I hope!

We're a wildly inconsistent team that can beat a #1 team one night and get blown out by a bottom-feeder the next. We don't play well on the road or at neutral sites, and we have a recent history of tournament disappointments. We got blown out by almost 30 yesterday.

I suppose that I don't know exactly what the seeding is supposed to reflect. If it's supposed to be a reflection of the resume, of the overall body of work over the season, then we clearly got screwed. If it's supposed to be a straight-up ranking of how likely a given team is to win the tournament, then I don't know that it's that far off.

This is now three straight years we have been seeded low by NCAA after getting the number 2 (better than expected) in Pearl's first year and about right second year. Based upon our entire body of work including the last KY disaster Vols deserved a 4 seed. It will be extremely difficult just to make the sweet 16 in our bracket. Our team three years ago is the only team in NCAA history to have the #1 RPI and not be a number 1 seed.

Good post. UT will have a hard road to the Final Four.

Lets see what they do.

Go Vols.
