my 20 years in knoxville taught me one thing, while loyal,
vol fans are not very smart. putting up with fulmer who consistently underachieved and cost us at least 2 other national championships was stupid. fans were satisfied with 9-3 or 10-2 seasons.vol football had the potential
to be a dynasty like the u.now vol fans will settle for
mediocrity.they will continue to fill neyland stadium while we are a horrible football team led by average coaches and a horrible ad. prepare for 10 years of sucking and we will never hire an elite coach unless you the fan base demands it. the way you demand it is by boycotting the games and emptying neyland stadium.until they fire hamilton and hire a saban like coach vol fans will not even sniff a bcs bowl game or sec championship.i for one will be amused watching 100000 FANS fill neyland to watch a 3-9 team.these next 2 years will be the worst in ut history.yeah i know i'm a negavol but ai prefer realistic to negavol
can't decide... drunk? just got dumped? got beat up by a ut fan? or maybe just another fair-weather fan?

Yep. Brilliant. Saban was chomping at the bit to come to Tennessee. Hamilton just didn't pull the trigger. Emptying out the stadium will do it. Will help recruiting too. Brilliant, just brilliant. Why didn't we think of that before?

You sure that we could not have gotten him at the end of 2005 or 2006 when many UT fans were still fluffing Fulmer?

Seriously. The key to the Vol success is emptying the stadium? Where do you guys get this stuff. I do agree with one thing, your not very smart

I don't agree with the original post. However, he did get that part right. You don't think any company out there will totally re-evaluate and make the nessecary adjustments if their customers up and leave? It is either that or go under, and make no mistake d1 football is a business.

2005, I doubt it. He was only one year in the pros. 2006, I don't know either way. Neither do you. Alabama handed him the keys to the kingdom. No way he could come out a loser.

I, for one, would not want to go to a school that had just ran off a longtime, mostly successful, coach. That is the reason many big name coaches do not find it attractive. We were in a position that we almost had to take a young coach with something to prove.

I think that one of the biggest problems UT has right now is that many of our fans think they know what is best for the team. Here's an idea, look around the next time you are in Knoxville. Just in case you haven't noticed, UT has only spent like a couple hundred million dollars trying to make our facilities the best possible. We also have a top five budget year in and year out. UT is trying to right the ship. The best thing we can do is support or team. Everyone except maybe you.

So do you think they are going to bring in a 10 million a year CEO if they don't have the operating budget to pay him ?

I find it very sad that 9-3 and 10-2 is good enough for some people. At Tennessee, the goal should always be to compete for and win championships.

The only good point I see in the OP is the part about not going to the games if you're not happy with the product on the field. It's called being an intelligent consumer, a concept many of you seem to be unfamiliar with.

Regardless of how terrible or great the product on the field is, I can't resist the urge to go experience Neyland

Right. Saban would have been too intimidated to follow Fulmer. :eek:lol:

1) Show me anything anywhere that backs that statement up.

Its called investing in yourself. Successful companies look long term and will take a short term loss for long term gains. Again, I think CDD will succeed but don't discount the power of the consumer in company decisions.

That is life in the SEC. if you are 10-2 or 9-3, you are going to be in contention. Of course you want more, but you are not going to have it every year. In case you haven't noticed, the schools we are chasing have plenty of those years too. Florida's average record the last 10 years is 9.2 wins per year and 3 losses. The problem is, they do not have the 7-6 or worse years we have had lately.

There is only 1 Nick Saban and he sure as hell ain't coming here. Besides, the fan support and the stadium are an integral part of what this university is about. This thread gets a thumbs down

Right. Saban would have been too intimidated to follow Fulmer. :eek:lol:

Nobody said he was intimidated. That is not the point. It is not a matter of intimidation as much as walking into an impossible situation.

How many big name coaches were knocking at the door ? That seems to back it up.

You show me something to back up your statement that he would have come here after 2006.

You can't . It is all conjecture. Opinion.

I think he had changed subjects at that point.

Looks like the second paragraph was "we were forced into a bad position before the Kiffin hire" not "Saban would never come if Fulmer was fired"

I will. Just as soon as you show me where I made that statement.

Dude i hate to break it to you, but Tennessee football doesn't exist for your entertainment. It is much bigger than that.

Could be. That would make more sense had he started another paragraph.

Most coaches, with the exception of Fulmer, don't go knocking on doors. They are approached.
