Not sure many people are following the Venezuelan crisis but the regime has been experiencing months of daily street clashes between citizens wanting freedom and the increasingly authoritarian Maduro. For the first time during the crisis a Venezuelan military unit has defected but some reports are coming out the rebellion has been suppressed. Still once something happens like this it usually opens the floodgates for other similar actions. This is moving closer and closer to civil war which really have implications for the region and the US.

Definitely not a good situation. Had our own Jimmy Carter not gone down there and backed Chavez as a democratically elected leader then I wonder if this situation would be occurring.

For all the good he's done on a personal and charitable level, he's a bonafide disaster when it comes to politics.

Liberal socialist pigs need to pay special attention to this as it's another epic socialist failure..... probably why the media isn't reporting as much as they should.

Haven't you been paying attention?

They'll do socialism "right" here. These other countries don't know how to do socialism right.

I'm all for beating on a dead horse like Jimmy Carter, but I think that has little to do with what is going on there right now.

I've seen cars around Orlando for 10 years that say VENEZUELA SOS and I literally could not give 1.5 sh!ts about that place.

There are plenty of non 3rd world countries to use as examples of how to not be a 3rd world country..its 2017..no excuses anymore.

Not all democrats are communists. Although some are. Basically you can just combine progressive, socialist, liberal, authoritarian and facist into one: democrat.

Venezuela failed because of a corrupt President who although elected ran the government like a dictatorship. He placed incompetent friends and supporters in every important position. The entire economy was propped up by high oil prices and they were a leading exporter. The price dropped and the country failed.

Denmark, Finland, Canada, The Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Ireland, New Zealand, and Belgium are Socialist Democracies and the people in every one of them enjoy a higher standard than we do here.

IMO the US capitalistic system isn't working nearly as well as the socialist systems in the countries listed above.

Learn the similarities too. Other than that last one, don't they all pretty much want to take money that's not their's and decide who to give it to?

Canada is the most highly populated country in that list and is about 1/10th of the USA's.
