You can easily spot complete mouth breathing idiots and avoid ever speaking about football with them again.

CMBI is indicated by things like:

Blaming the defense for our loss to Kentucky....

Acting like the defense was the problem when without Janzen Jackson (the only NFL first round potential talent they had) and Herman Lathers, they played much better than last year.

Saying that losing the laziest assistant on our staff would be devastating to the program.

Defending Bray's tattoo (I haven't witnessed this but it would indicate total idiocy).

Talking about poor play calling on plays where the WR was wide open and dropped the ball.

Saying "I am tired of youth as an excuse" when all of our best players are sophomores and freshmen (segue to)

Defending Phil Fulmer whose senior class has a total of ZERO NFL players except for Dooley transfer Malik Jackson.

Wanting to hire Kevin freaking Sumlin who went 5-7 with a
MUCH easier schedule than ours last year when his QB was hurt.

Thinking Tennessee can know one way or the other whether Dooley will succeed at this point.

Thinking Tennessee has more of a reason to be upset about our results given our talent than Florida or Texas (take a long look at their junior and senior group and the number of NFL guys they have and ask yourself if there is any valid excuse for their record).

The hard times have also exposed fools who write in the papers that James Franklin (he of the Ole Miss instead of LSU SEC schedule) has more going for him than Dooley and will surpass him...

9 Juniors and Seniors on Vandy's defense and 2 sophomores. 6 Juniors and Seniors on offense.
Tennessee? 4 on offense and 3 on defense.

Tennessee football has a very bright future. EE Juco's will hopefully be able to contribute earlier than guys like Byron Moore, Mo Couch and Iz. Lanier (all of whom I am expecting big things out of for next year).

Dooley has a safe job and should be able to upgrade every single coach who leaves (provided that Wilcox stays).

Let's look on the bright side and enjoy a strong close in recruiting and some well coached basketball players who are giving a good effort even when playing more talented teams.

I would also like to point out OPs handle and the bevy of Thank You, Mike Hamilton posts before anyone takes him too seriously.

Spot on on every point.

I apologize for my redundancy, but the reactions we are seeing are from the knee-jerk, what have you done for me lately crowd. More aptly dubbed, the bipolar faction of our fanbase.

I love the internet, but message boards have been far more destructive than any good they have done for team sports.

Those guys that left don't want a lot of views, they like their own private echo chamber just fine.

Mike Hamilton will be remembered fondly here in 20 years when Clemson is naming buildings after him and people look back and thank someone for the 450 million Tennessee raised (which dwarfed what Florida did during the Meyer NC runs).

It was not immoral for Bray to get that tattoo, it just is embarassingly bad looking.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

If you think that a very large majority of the fanbase isn't going to go into "fire the coach" mode after a pitiful loss like this past Saturday, you are absolutely 100% delusional.

It wasn't the fact that we played so poorly - it was the blatant apathy (at least on the offensive side) and the seeming lack of effort and intensity across the board.

The lack of preparation for arguably the most important game of the season (sad as that is to say) falls COMPLETELY on the coaching staff.

In order to keep optimism alive in Knoxville, all CDD had to do was beat a pitiful KY team using a WR as a QB.

It's the responsibility of the HFC to win games, not give excuses. If we beat a pathetic UK team last Saturday, instead of talking "hot seat", everybody would be talking about how the season was salvaged and speculating on bowl game opponents.

Now Dooley is fighting for his coaching life. Sorry if that's not what you want to hear, but the truth hurts sometimes.

Everything you said I agreed with except for Dooley having a safe job.

If we win 7 or 8 games next year, I don't expect Dooley's job to be very safe.

We also don't know if TN has a bright future either, that is pure speculation. Lets hope so...

Hmm. Not sure you understand the term "majority". I'm fairly certain a majority of our fanbase has NOT gone into fire Dooley mode.

Dooley has a safe job in that he will easily be able to do the minimum next year he needs to do to stay (win 8 games). If he does not do that, he will be done here. He will leave a stocked full cupboard that was puzzling in its dysfunctionality in losing with lots of talent (much like Zook).

Carlito:
We SUCKED offensively against Kentucky. It was truly awful to watch. The offensive line is the group with the least excuse. Sure it blows blocking for RBs who are probably still going to be juking when December starts (how long does it take Lane and Poole to walk to class?) but we were also a team that had a sick QB who was not even close to 100% but was still better than the options behind him.

Jim Chaney knew we did not have a top quality RB heading into the season. He held out some hope that Lane could become that. It didnt pan out. He set up the entire offense around great pass blocking and Bray throwing to Hunter and Rogers (and then a bit to other guys like the TE, RB, FB and other WRs). You saw "Chaney's offense" he spent all off season working towards in the Cincinatti game.

The entire coaching staff believed we could beat Florida with our offense. When Hunter went down, so did our season. It SUCKS to be at a point where that is the case, but even though Wilcox did very well despite losing his most NFL ready talent, Chaney cannot reload with our current roster.

Next year?? We have much more depth on the OL, and our center should be a kid who didnt take a snap this year. We will also have hopefully 2 or 3 speedsters instead of 1 in Devrin Young. We will have hopefully 3 stud WRs at least as well. Worley will be MUCH further along and it will not be a complete disaster in the way it was this year if Bray is out again.

The loss to Kentucky was awful. It was not primarily a result of bad play calls. We had piss poor execution offensively against an amped up defense that played its best game of the season. It was truly terrible to watch.

Tennessee I hope will get another Jamal Lewis at one point and be able to line up and smash teams. If Chaney had put our Senior (who is complaining too much for my liking but is understandably wanting to excuse this year) RB in there and told our line to go mash UK, they could not have done it.

If we can line up and run inside the 5 against South Carolina (instead of getting tossed like rag dolls) we win that game.

If we can line up and run inside the 10 against Kentucky (instead of fumbling away our best sustained drive of the game) we win.

We had a horrible year and hit bottom. We are not a team who has fallen behind Florida or South Carolina (look at who they lose) and I do not expect Joker Phillips to ever beat Tennessee again.

Yeah we are a well coached team right?

Keep letting those top 15 recruiting classes blind you, remember 15th best in the Nation= 6th best in the S.E.C.

Here is Vandy's depth chart: College Player Database - Depth Chart

2 seniors on offense start
4 seniors on defense start

They lose 6 starters total.

1. We will smash Vanderbilt next year, and that is even though I think Franklin is a very good coach.

2. I said juniors or seniors. What I was pointing out is that he has a much older team than Tennessee and that (along with an Ole Miss SEC game instead of an LSU game) explains why they are bowling and we are not. I did watch common opponents and they thrashed UK and looked a ton better in their losses than we did.

We will be back to smashing them next year.

We will not be able to smash them the way I would enjoy by running for 250 yards. We will smash them by passing for 250 and 3 TDs in the first half while shutting them down defensively (which we almost did this year with a much worse defense).

Dooley just lost to the worst team in the SEC after coaching this team for two full years. That isn't knee jerk, that's an omen.
