Not sure if anyone is watching the new season of this that started recently, but it continues to be my favorite comedy on TV.

Watched the first episode. The dialogue is still sharp as ever.

Loved the gag about the office placement punishment

Aside from from the crisp dialog the plot twists still feel fresh in this show.

The Hot Dog app was good.

Gilfoy's insult of "Frankenstein's bulemic daughter" is one of the funniest things I have ever heard.

TJ Miller won't be returning next season

I wonder if they knew that going into this season or if they will have to explain his absence away at the start of next season. They will have be clever about it if they are staying in Erlich's house.

Really strong finale. It was nerve-racking all the way through. Really like the setup for next season. IMO they'll wrap the show up in the next session or two.

I liked the finale, though I found the way they had Elrich leave the show was kinda lame. I get they did it that way to leave it open for his return for the finale (I assume that will happen), but he was mostly ignored the last 2 episodes.

Totally agree about Erlich. I was also a little disappointed with the return to status quo for Gavin and Richard's rivalry. I still think the dialog is sharp but I think the roller coaster plot of near disaster with last minute save is getting tired. They need to wrap it up next season.

I agree, next season needs to be the last. Same with Veep, as it goes through almost the same pattern of the same storyline (she's running for President again next season).

As for Miller, if what I read about him was true, I think it was more he was asked to leave than a "mutual" decision. There are a lot of stories of him being difficult to work with on set and being late and even no showing tapings.

On the Nerdist he said he left because he's too busy and his wife is an artist in NYC and always works around his schedule. He says quitting the show gives him 4 months to stay in NYC with her and to focus on standup.

He also said he thought it would free up the show to do new things...he felt like including Erlich forces them to keep doing the same things.

I've heard him give the story about his wife's schedule on a few interviews lately and I've heard the stories about him being asked to leave. Probably a little truth in both but the show execs are kind enough to let him say it was his decision as not to torpedo his career.

I guess so but the funny part is he was barely involved in the last 3-4 episodes yet they still ended up doing the same scenario as before. I'm skeptical that he is the reason they keep retreading.

I'm not saying it's the reason, but it is a reason. What can you do with Erlich's character? The whole point of him is he treads water. Like you said, the writers are doing it anyway, and I don't think he wants to be a part of it.

Also, he said SV tried hard to get him to come back and he said he thought this is what's best for the show, so either he's lying or the other source is lying.

I kind of find it hard to believe he's hard to work with. I can see him being late, but he seems like such a good guy who loves to work.

Season 5 premiered last Sunday. Writing continues to be sharp. I like when Richard mans up and gets tough in negotiating only to have it bite him... albeit briefly.

The stallions still has me cracking up.

Veep can go on for infinity imo, nothing touches the writing of that show.
