Sidewalk alumni necks

I may come off as angry, I just get a little too fired up. No we should fight each other we should be fighting gators & bammers. But ain't nothing wrong with a good tussel between friends every now and then lol

What I believe many fellow graduates ares trying to say is that while there’s no doubt there are many very big Vol fans here, there is a difference between those that are fans and those that are fans that actually went to the school. Have you ever stayed up all night pomping a float for a homecoming parade? Have you ever been to a 7:50am practice? Have you ever camped out in front of the student center with activity cards in hand for tickets to a ball game? Do you understand the significance in the Baptist Student Union winning a competition over Sigma Chi or Pi Kappa Alpha? Have you ever practiced for 7-8 hours in a week only to receive 1 hour of credit? These are the “bleeding orange” fans. The ones that have poured their time and sweat to the school while working for a degree.

And there are a good number of those people that openly root for other teams.

What's the big deal..? I'm an alum...and proud of it. However, I think being a fan of UT is not only representation of where I went to school, but also and more importantly, a representation of where I'm from....BIG ORANGE COUNTRY!

:3cheers:

Is there a non-alum board so I can interact with those like myself, who simply don't understand waiting in line and decorating floats?

all real UT fans have pomped a HC float. It has now been added to the "Criteria of a real fan" list

The term down here is "T-shirt Alumni"...

I'll use it in a sentence:

The University of Miami, one of the most expensive and prestigious Universities in the US, has a bad reputation because of the thuggish behavior of their "t-shirt alumni".

Considering Pike doesn't do homecoming anymore, they just party with whatever sorority they ask. Yes I can believe BSU won homecoming float over them.

Well, I'm sure that eliminates the Haslams. Who needs their money anyway?

Not to mention Bill Haslam didn't go to UT at all.

Dear Abby(VolGraduate),

I am worried about what level fan I am for the UT Vols.

I have a degree from another school but I have lived in TN since 1976. I watched UT football before moving here because my Dad was from TN. I have sit in the student section probably as much or more than some students. A couple of my friends played for UT and one went on to the NFL and has a super bowl ring. I have partied with some of the football team back in the day. I have 6 season ticket for football and basketball. I have not missed a home game since the 1996 season. I have been to weddings at tailgates before the games and always stay until the clock reads 0:00 before leaving the game. I have watched team workouts and practices in the early mornings and some not so early. I have been to UT camps, that my nephew has been a participant.

I am so worried I am not as big or loyal fan as you are for the Vols.

Signed,
Kicking Myself All the time

the Baptist Student Union could never accomplish such a feat unless it involved being up on a Sunday morning
Very few things in intramural sports gave me more pleasure than destroying the BSU while getting in some injury causing cheap shots along the way. We made the '70s Raiders and Bad Boy Pistons look like choirboys when we played those clowns.

Dear Kicking,

Have you motherfreaking pomped a float or waited in line for a ticket?

If not, deal with the shame.
