SIAP Pruitt fired Brum during the game?

Why and how did Memphis football get better than UT football? They stuck with their coach and gave him time. They rode out the bad years and became a really good top 20 football team for a while. Firing coaches every 3-5 years will never restore the program.
You do realize Fuente hit his stride at Memphis in year 3, right? That's normally a tell all year for coaches and the direction of their program.

I think the team laid down (D Line) because Pruitt says a lot of things that sound great about what it takes to win championships and makes everyone on the team and us fans feel warm and fuzzy inside and then trots his boy JG on the field and every player on the team feels like they’re always 21 points in the hole with JG under center. My opinion is Pruitt must put Maurer or Bailey under center or the team just quits on him. Pruitt might be able to fool us but the players know which QB is better. They just have to play the PC game with us, the media, and the coaches and talk JG up or else.........

Ummm, no. They didn’t stick with anyone. They fired Larry Porter after one year. Fuente had success early and the rest is history.

They fished and fished until they caught the big one.

Good points, and I suspect close to the truth. It's the only explanation for seeing the defense crater in the second half. I've changed my mind about trotting JG out there against Bama and replacing him after the game is out of reach. Don't think he can risk losing even more of the team. If I'm Pruitt, I turn it over to Maurer and Bailey for the rest of the season. Unless he's tone deaf and blind, he's got to see the will to fight is waning with this team. Firing your DL coach mid season sends a really bad message. Trotting JG back out there might be the final brick to the load for this coach with both the team and fans. He'd better recognize where he and this team are right now. If he's blind to it, he deserves to get canned.

Might not have been rash, but heat of the moment, could have been a verbal spat like this. Pruitt "Your DLine needs to play harder, get some pressure" Brum, "My DLine could if you'd do something with that QB/offense and give them more than 3 plays off" Pruitt "Aight, I've had enough of you. You're fired"
Was thinking something like this probable.

I also would like to point out those low throws that got batted down at the LOS against Georgia by Alabama. We never did that to him one time. Alabama has one of the worst D in the country and took over GA in the 2nd. Our D-line quit in the 2nd.
What criteria are you using to determine “Ala**** has one of the worst D in the country”?

The fact of the matter remains that the dline while not spectacular is not our biggest detriment to success. The qb play, offensive line play, and lack of a tight end threat ranks much higher on the list of needs

This just goes to show that Pruitt isn't as concerned at winning games than he is at saving his buddies' rear ends. He'll hang on to Friend and Weinke for kissing a**, but he'll dump any out caster who makes what I assume to be a logical argument (or as Pruitt calls it, a "psychological" difference).

They aren’t better. They play no one

So you just take rumors and run with them...

You seem to have the pulse of the locker room. I got hard news for you though, Pruitt is going to be here at least two more years, so you may have to modify your expectations and attitude accordingly....

What coaching circles are you in?
Mark Stoops comments on Tennessee firing assistant following loss to Kentucky
“Really disappointed to hear of that,” Stoops said at his Monday press conference. “Caught word of that yesterday and I wasn’t sure whether that was true or not, I didn’t reach out to the friends that I have on that program. I certainly will reach out to Jimmy, though. Jimmy I do consider a friend and know him obviously personally from being with me and his family and wish nothing but the best for him, he’s a quality coach, he’s a good coach and he’ll land on his feet with no problem. I have no idea what goes on there, that’s not my business, but at some point I will reach out to Jimmy, and that’s disappointing.”

Piss on Stoops, I couldn't care less about his opinion on anything related to Tennessee football.
