One lone Tennessee player was named a Preseason All-American by Sports Illustrated:

I disagree with this list. I think Hurd, Barnett, Sutton, and Reaves-Mabin should be on the list, and maybe Dobbs.

Sure he can be. Seriousness is defined by the person themselves.

What you mean is, he can't be right, he just can't be.

And you're probably correct about that. Then again, what if it turns out he is right? Would take a 15-0 national championship kind of season, right? :)

I have us going 15-0 this season with every game outside of Alabama in the regular season being a blowout.

If we do that, we'll have players all over the award lists.

The media rewards winning.

What's the record for most all-americans (1st or 2nd team) in a single year from any single team?

I remember as high as 6 or 7 (almost always from the team that won the NC)...but is the record significantly above that?

According to SI, Derek Barnett is not even the 4th best DE in the SEC and yet he is projected to be a top 10 pick in NFL mock drafts next April. They must be factoring recruiting rankings/reputations as a part of this.

May have a lot to do with the fact that they're picking DLinemen for a 3-4 defense. They're looking for massive (but still fast) hole-pluggers, maybe.

I don't know, just trying to find something that makes some kind of sense. Otherwise, there is absolutely no way Barnett isn't on the all-American team.
