SI Preseason SEC All Americans

Ok guys, with a little more look at D4H's list, it is possible that each one of those names gets AA status. Some are unlikely and the sum total is very unlikely; however, it's clear that this season is going to be entertaining.

Who cares about the pre-season lists. It's largely about what you did last year. This is who we'll have as actual All-Americans by the end of the year:

Offense
QB - Josh Dobbs (First Team)
RB - Jalen Hurd (First Team)
WR - Preston Williams (Second Team)
G - Dylan Weisman (Second Team)
C - Coleman Thomas (First Team)

Defense
DE - Derek Barnett (First Team)
DT - Kahlil McKenzie (Second Team)
LB - Jalen Reeves-Maybin (First Team)
LB - Darrin Kirkland Jr. (Second Team)
CB - Cam Sutton (First Team)
S - Todd Kelly Jr. (First Team)

Special Teams
KR - Evan Berry (First Team)
P - Trevor Daniel (Second Team)

Negavol IMO! Here's an accurate list ...

If we go 15-0, our players will be rewarded with media votes.

Look no further than Alabama placing 5 guys on the preseason All-American first team.

Win and it'll take care of itself.

So you think that means we place 8 guys in the first team after winning?

Holy does not compute batman!

After looking up their squad, it's quite possible that the 2001 Hurricanes had 3 Hall of Famers on the same team.

2 are no doubters and 1 is not far fetched.

Ed Reed, Andre Johnson and Frank Gore

"Three? That's it? We got 10 or 12 off this year's team.....easy."

Actually, there is a potential 4th Hall of Famer on that team.

His list is statistically highly, highly unlikely. If we were to put that number of players on the AA list, then this UT would be considered one of the greatest of all time. Now, that COULD happen as anything is possible, but very unlikely.

That being said the list is missing out on 2 players, Barnett and JRM. Both should be first team AA.

Id say thats the minimum.

It's very likely this team WILL be one of the best of the last 20 years at least.

According to Wikipedia, Miami had 6 players on AA teams from various media outlets.

Jeremy Shockey TE (CNNSI)
Bryant McKinnie OT (Consensus)
Joaquin Gonzalez OT (FWAA, CNNSI)
Phillip Buchanon CB (PFW)
Ed Reed S (Consensus)
Todd Sievers K (CNNSI)

They had 10 players make the AP all America team, so that list from wiki isn't correct

I have us going 15-0 this season with every game outside of Alabama in the regular season being a blowout.

If we do that, we'll have players all over the award lists.

The media rewards winning.

I'll agree with that assessment. How else would you explain the Bama receive making the cut. He had a good year for a freshman. You could probably find 7-10 receivers with similar if not better numbers. And I'm going to say this one more time. No disrespect to him, I'm taking Barnett over Garrett any day ! I think people get enamored with him because he's a physical specimen. DB has put up equal numbers against better competition.

Do you have a link to that? I'm wondering if by chance some are getting included because they were on the 2001 team but didn't make AA until the following year. Or, maybe my list was just 1st team selections. Not sure. That team was pretty ridiculous though.

The 2016 Vols will be considered one of the greatest college football teams ever.

They'll be the first team to go 15-0. And they'll win 14 of their 15 games by 14 or more points. Only the home game against Alabama will be single digits.

We'll beat Alabama 27-24 in a thriller.

It's a good thing you aren't old enough to bet. Las Vegas is full of broke folks that know about the next sure thing.

Thread title does say SEC all Americans. Is it possible D4H thinks this is only SEC assessment and not all college football?

You can barely contain yourself, you're so excited about the season lol.

Dude we might have half that for the All- SEC teams.

1st team All- American
Evan Berry KR

3rd team All- American
Derek Barnett DE
Jaylen Reeves Maybin LBB

That's it.

After looking at it, the wiki page is just listing first team all Americans. But yeah they had ten guys make the AP all American team, which is insane. Best team in the modern era.

First two sentences are accurate. The last is wrong they are the second best.
