SI Preseason SEC All Americans

According to SI, Derek Barnett is not even the 4th best DE in the SEC and yet he is projected to be a top 10 pick in NFL mock drafts next April. They must be factoring recruiting rankings/reputations as a part of this.

How else do you get Jabrill Peppers as a first team all-american LB?

These preseason lists are usually a joke. The postseason lists are only slightly less of a joke.

Hard to take a list serious that places Jabrill Peppers as a 1st team LB when he's never played the position, even if he's expected to play a hybrid-LB role this year.

That spot shoukd have gone to Barnett IMO, but thes rest of the list is pretty tough to argue against.

If by season's end, Josh Dobbs is a 1st team All-American by legit media sources (not Dobbs4Heisman Monthly), I'll eat my shoe.

Jesus, man. Don't you ever just get tired?

Obviously you've never had a 12-year-old boy. Wide open until the head hits the pillow. Once he hits his teens we'll have some peace until early afternoon, but once he's up it'll be steady entertainment until the wee morning hours.

We were hoping that you could take Dobbs 4 Heisman off our hands. The guy is a straight troll

How is this trolling? Maybe a bit optimistic but bama put 12 on the Phil Steele AA teams (7 on first team)and many believe UT is just as good. Why can't UT players make it too?

Lighten up and enjoy the talent inside UT football again. It's OK to believe again

No, Rev. We weren't. Because the only way for 99gator to "take D4H off our hands" is for Florida (among others) to beat the Vols. And NONE of us are hoping for that.

I'd rather have D4H here forever* and win championship after championship than the alternative. No matter how much it pains them, every true Vols fan is gonna feel the same.

* truth in advertising: I don't mind D4H being here. I hate his lack of loyalty in lean years, but I don't mind him being around otherwise.

Don't know. But this team has potentially more elite NFL talent.

Wait until you see his list of future NFL HoFers on this team... everyone including Colton Jumper will be first ballot.

Dobbs will win the Heisman and will go ahead of Watson as the 1st pick in the 2017 class. Will win ROY and MVP next year along with winning the Super Bowl.

You cant be serious. You just cant be

He lives in some alternative universe. I love the enthusiasm but he doesn't get that other progrsms have really good players and his assessment of our talent is grossly inflated. I say that knowing we have a really talented roster this year too lol.

Who cares about the pre-season lists. It's largely about what you did last year. This is who we'll have as actual All-Americans by the end of the year:

Offense
QB - Josh Dobbs (First Team)
RB - Jalen Hurd (First Team)
WR - Preston Williams (Second Team)
G - Dylan Weisman (Second Team)
C - Coleman Thomas (First Team)

Defense
DE - Derek Barnett (First Team)
DT - Kahlil McKenzie (Second Team)
LB - Jalen Reeves-Maybin (First Team)
LB - Darrin Kirkland Jr. (Second Team)
CB - Cam Sutton (First Team)
S - Todd Kelly Jr. (First Team)

Special Teams
KR - Evan Berry (First Team)
P - Trevor Daniel (Second Team)

8 1st team AAs? I don't think so.

Write it down, take a picture, I don't care. What are you going to do if/when he doesn't live up to your expectations? Continue on making baseless claims and predictions?

I'm still curious how you plan to make ammends after "guaranteeing" we land one of Emory Jones or Trevor Lawrence.

Your predictions are clown shoes. Everyone knows it but you.

I have us going 15-0 this season with every game outside of Alabama in the regular season being a blowout.

If we do that, we'll have players all over the award lists.

The media rewards winning.

So you think that this team will be the greatest football team off all time?Gosh i hope you're right.

I will say I like your optimism. Never lose that I just hope as you get older it is more realistic. Obviously that I'd not gonna come to fruition what you posted. Right off the bat do you understand how unlikely a QB and RB from same team make the same first team honors. They are almost each other's stat enemies. Outside that Matt Leinert and Reggie Bush tandem I wouldnt bet on happening.

Wonder if the 2001 Hurricanes had 13 1st and 2nd team all-Americans

According to Wikipedia, Miami had 6 players on AA teams from various media outlets.

Jeremy Shockey TE (CNNSI)
Bryant McKinnie OT (Consensus)
Joaquin Gonzalez OT (FWAA, CNNSI)
Phillip Buchanon CB (PFW)
Ed Reed S (Consensus)
Todd Sievers K (CNNSI)

What a novel idea...utilizing known parameters and vetted quantifiable observations to forecast the likelihood of future outcomes.

Seriously though, why the hell do you think Evan Berry is on the list? Maybe because he averaged over 38ypr and scored 3td's? Nah...it'd be lunacy to think what he did previously should mean anything.

8 Players on the All-American First Team? That's gotta be an All-Time record.
