I really think he wants to stay in knoxville (or wherever he's at). His family seems happy to be there and is tired of moving around. Woody Paige just got me thinking though...would cut go to ny to work with eli? I tend to doubt it, i'm not sure he's a ny kind of guy.

No word of it locally on the sports talk radio.

Just a rumor at this point. The president is getting ready to go out of town so probably won't be any action until next week (unless something comes out by the end of the day today).

I hope they keep him. It's fun watching the meltdown :dance2:

There have been rumours that Bama is Cut's dream job for some time, however, I have heard that Bama's dream list is Saban, Spurrier and Rich Rodriguez. Saban's agent says he is not going back to cfb any time soon. Spurrier has made a flat-out denial that he is thinking about leaving SC. I have no idea about Rodriguez, which means he may be the guy in play???

I wouldn't count out Spurrier. The guy is all about competing for and winning championships, and I just don't know if there's enough recruiting inroads and booster support in Columbia for him to build a legit contender there. Spurrier's staring down a road of 7-5, 8-4, maybe 9-3 type seasons, at best, at South Carolina, occasionally pulling off a major upset, but he could have Bama right back in the national title hunt in 2 years. Or less.

My gut instinct is that Shula is done at Bama. Basically, he needed to beat Auburn to save his job, and he failed to do so. Continually losing to Auburn and playing in third-tier bowl games just ain't gonna cut it with the Bama faithful.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't get one more year. This will be Bama's year to clean house on the staff while Shula uses his 9th life.

I am quite confident that Alabama would never ever hire Cutcliffe since he has coached at Tennessee under Fulmer. I could be wrong, it has happened before.

I do think the 3 SEC losses, coupled with the fact (in hindsight) that UGA and Cal were not the marquee victories that they may have intially appeared to be, have dulled the national interest in Coach Cut. Where things might get interesting is if some of the Big East coaches start getting syphoned off and all of the sudden W.Va and the Ville are coach shopping.

the rumor i am hearing from bammers around here is that Spurrier is the lead candidate. get this (try to stay with me as far fetched as this may sound): apparently someone has figured out how to track flights out of and into this little airport in t-town, showing dates, times and destinations. ALLEGEDLY (LOL) a plane owned by Paul Jr. has made the trip to columbia a few times this month and so has another privately owned jet from SC to t-town. the latest i've heard is that if SC loses to Clemson, Alabama would get the nod in a bowl game over them and Shula is on his way out. Spurrier would then be immediately hired so he could get all that bowl prep practice time in with his NEW squad-the crimson tide. :crazy: Think about the stink that would cause especially if sc lays an egg against clemson! just thought i'd let you know what kinda junk is floatin around here in N alabama. comments? good grief
