We should wait at least till the bowl for JJ to play...right now it would garner to much attention and if it comes out that he was involved it would look very bad.

The overwhelming weight of posted opinions seems to be against letting him play again this year, if not forever. If that's the case, then why even keep him on the team? Obviously, they think his talents are such that it is worth taking a P.R. hit to keep him around. That being the case, why not play him? What if, God forbid, Vandy squeeks out a close one without JJ in the game?

Maybe a better question would be, would you rather play JJ and go 8-5 with a Peach Bowl victory, or go 5-7 without JJ? I realize that there are other options, but it was painfully obvious that the defense was not the same without JJ on the field.

You really think a true freshman, albeit a pretty good one, is that important to our team? McCluster still runs wild on us last Saturday with or without Janzen.

What if new evidence comes out and the charges are brought back up, what about being out past curfew? And you continued to play him? I think Kiffin is doing about the best thing he can at this time. Suspend him until the situation is resolved, then lay out the punishment.

There is NO curfew.

From what I've been able to gather, he was in the store when the other two pulled their stupid robbery. I think you suspend him for the rest of the regular season (violation of team rules) and bring him back for the bowl game if and only if:

1. It's proven that he had no part in planning or participating in the robbery and all charges are dismissed (or he is found innocent in court).

2. He does absolutely nothing wrong between now and whatever bowl the Vols play in. Being 5 minutes late to a team meeting should be enough to extend his suspension through the bowl game.

Just what I would do. Leaving the bowl game on the table gives him a short-term goal to strive for, and I think that could be an important element in getting his head on straight.

I think he should sit out till at least the 2nd half of the bowl game (I know, if we make it). But if he so much as farts in public he should sit the rest of the year. I hope he is innocent but he did put himself in a situation that was not set up for much good, and we are UT we need to send a message to the team and Janzen as he is a true freshman that they must think on and off the field. These young men could have ended up in the NFL with millions of dollars in their pocket and they need to learn these important lessons now and for others to see.

If he is innocent then great keep him and hope he learns his lesson, if he is guilty then say hi to Nuke and Mike for us, BYE!

(I voted no)

GO VOLS!

JJ will not play or participate in any team activities until we begin our bowl preparations. He will then be allowed to participate in all activities and play in the bowl. I think the bowl prep period is extremely important to JJ as this will be the last time he has the opportunity to learn from EB. On the other hand, he may have more pressing legal issues to worry about than football.

From what we see on the outside, he should be sidelined at least the rest of the season. But, I'm not going to vote one way or the other. I'm in the wait and see mode.

Lets see if he passes his drug test. Until those results are available - he may not be on the team. My theory, he was the person who said lets go. But was he stoned? CLK found it disturbing JJ was caught with someone with weed - especially seeing he just got busted for failing a drug test. JJ is waiting for the results of his latest drug test. If he fails, see ya. If he passes, he plays in the bowl game.

The munchies might have gotten the best of JJ.

When will the police announce whether they are dropping the charges against JJ? Kiffin needs that info to make a decision about the next few games.

Can he help us win? Yes. He's not dismissed and already served a 1 game suspension.
All you holier than thou you people are the same one drinking wiskey in church after watching porn all night. Get over yourselves.

I don't care what is confirmed or how much he wasn't involved. JJ should not play this year no matter what.

This ^

He has the next 9 months to prove he deserves to be on this team. And that has nothing to do with his on field abilities.

I'm not a "holier than thou"...I don't drink whiskey in church...and I don't watch porn all night....or even half the night...or even at all.

Maybe you need to get over YOU, as opposed to me getting over myself.

Personally, I don't care if JJ, or Nuke, or Mike Edwards, can help us win. I care about UT Football. I care about a long, proud tradition...absent thugs, dope, and 2 a.m. escapades at a Pilot station.

If all you care about is winning, well....the Oakland Raiders are really hurting for fans. They would welcome your presence in their camp.

Me? I'm a UT fan, and the integrity of the program...nurtured and guarded for decades by better men than you or I, is far, far more important to me than any one, or three, players.

Go Vols.

Given the timing of his involvement with this (albeit hopefully peripheral) right after his suspension for the Memphis State game, I am a proponent for sitting him the rest of the year and hopefully bringing him back next year.

It's this compounding effect that's most troubling to me as well. He should have been walking the straight and narrow.

Love the way the guy plays football, but we need players we can count on.

I am mad! I say supend JJ for the UT Martin game next Year!:realmad:

You may be joking but I think it's a good idea that the suspension lasts for a game or two next year. if nothing else, to make sure he doesn't forget during the offseason...or at least doesn't have any excuses for forgetting- whatever the case may be.

I agree with one caveat. If he has resolved all of the issues that led to his suspension for the Memphis game. If the slate was clean then I agree with F&T.

Use the Bowl Game as the goal to get him to change his behavior. Six weeks will be long enough to find out if he's going to make it.

If not - Send him on his way.

It's Vandy and Kentucky. That's 7-6 minimum. But your last point is why this sux so much.

However, I'd consider shifting Berry back to the more traditional safety role that he played last year and playing someone else in his new role. We basically need him in position to back up every play as JJ had been doing.

Why did JJ do this to our team?

Let's assume that JJ had absolutely no idea that any robbery was going down last week.

What was his rush to leave the gas station?
Why was the reason he was out on the town at 2AM on a school night just before a road game? Insomnia?
What a horrible coincidence that he was in a car with marijuana just a week after getting suspended for failing a drug test!

Just how does UT aim to differentiate itself from UF here?
