Shooters needed ....

We don't even have a threat from 2 anymore. It's like we've forgotten how to shoot since Destin.

Tennessee is going to lose this game because the offense is terrible. We have two guys that supposed to be good shooters who can barely buy a basket. Then we have Fulkerson on the inside but no one else. Teams have figured us out and we are in a bad spot.

We are struggling offensively right now for sure. We knew this year had potential to be a growing pains kind of year from the start though. We lost a lot of the main fiddle of our team after last year. Big shoes to fill. We're still ok though and we will get better.

Not adjusting well to the longer 3PL this year. It's really beyond Pons' range unless he can spot up with his toes almost touching it. A foot beyond the line is too deep for him, ON, and (for now) JJJ.

There’s a lot of frustration rn with Lamonte and JB but fornme they are capable of leading a tournament team with capable role players around them. We can’t expect them to carry a team. My biggest frustration is with Jalen Johnson. His supposed biggest asset is our biggest need atm and he can barely get on the floor

It's true, we need shooters, but just as badly, we need ball-handlers. Games like this are why I cautioned those picking us to finish 23-8, or better, this year.

We really struggle to score anywhere, consistently. We have no go-to guy that can score at will, like Williams could, and our one clutch player is playing with a perpetually bum shoulder.

I had us winning 18-19 games for a reason. We will get hot from outside and beat a couple teams we shouldn't, but we will also see some extended cold spells, especially from the perimeter, like we have the last two games that will cost us wins. Additionally, I don't see many, if any, alpha personalities out there. Turner probably is, but again, is wholly ineffective with a bad wing. Add in that we are playing with a short bench that is low on experience, and this was always going to be the kind of season where we had little margin for error against the better teams on our roster.

So, far, I still have us a game ahead of where I thought we'd be. Preseason, I had us at 6-4 at this point, losing to Washington, so hard for me to complain about where we are relative to my personal expectations, but those who had us winning 23+ are probably disappointed, perhaps on the verge of panic, even. This team should improve, and hopefully Vescovi, and perhaps Plavsic at some point, can help out. We just lost too much talent, scoring, ball-handling, and experience to expect to not hardly skip a beat.

Just need to compete play hard and hope our young players learn along the way. Next year when when Jerry’s boy and the gang get here we will legit NC contenders 1576744850691.gif

We got from 4 bench players 4 points 2 of 6 & 6 rebounds in 34 minutes of total playing time. Need some 6th man magic of years past.

Every year Turner has gone through some retry bad slumps. First year it was near the end of SEC play. Second year it was to start the season. Last year he went through a slump at the end of SEC play through the SEC tourney. Fortunately then he wasn’t so relied upon as he is now.

Playing PG really impacts his game in a negative way.

If Bone had stayed or we had a legit PG with Turner playing SG, we probably are undefeated right now.

We have a 3 point oriented offense with no 3 point shooters at this moment. Defense will carry us but we need to score some points along the way.

I'd bet that there are a lot of teams that are struggling to knock down the longer 3s this year. Unfortunately TN doesn't have enough post offense to counter defenses that cheat into the paint.

There is a dip in percentages, but not nearly as drastic as Tennessee’s...Turner's shoulder woes are hurting us, and also no GW down low who drew an auto double and would almost always make the right pass.

Grant Williams alone would add 4-5 wins to the win total probably. People forget that for 2 years we basically ran the offense through him exclusively.

When he wasn't on the court, often the offensive woes we are seeing this season would appear.

Not sure I believe the first sentence. Playing PG seemed very natural to him at the end of last season, where he actually outplayed Bone over the course of the postseason, and he looked very good playing PG to open this season.

I think what negatively impacts Turner most, is his shoulder injury, first, and then the fact that he feels like he has to score for this team to win because no one else seems ready and/or willing to step into that role of go-to offensive player when we need a bucket. It is hard for him to play PG and be a distributor to a team of guys who can’t or won’t go score the basketball.

Bone would likely struggle with the same issues, except he is fully healthy and would have Turner at his disposal off the ball. I think it is often underestimated just how shallow and inexperienced this team really is, and how slim the margin for error is, offensively.

This is going to sound mean but people are really stupid sometimes. It’s like Lamonte forgot how to be a good shooter because he moved to PG. Moving off the ball doesn’t magically fix his shoulder. This narrative can’t play point is the dumbest “storyline” of the season.

They sure are stupid - especially believing playing point has nothing to do with his struggles. 28% shooting and at times a turn over machine.

It's pretty obvious to almost everyone that he is a better SG than PG. He had shoulder issues last year too, btw
