Maybe I am ignorant but what dies his resume even look like? I don't feel this is an upgrade
Shoop was selected the 247Sports Defensive Coordinator of the Year in 2014 after directing a unit that allowed just 278.7 yards per game, good for No. 2 in FBS and the Nittany Lions second-lowest average since 1990.
He has coordinated units that have finished in the Top 25 nationally in total defense in each of the last four years.
Actually I think it's 5 including this year. (#14)
There are a lot of other stats and players that made it to the NFL etc...
But, the fact that he did this with little talent at Vandy and with scholarship limitations at PSU is probably the most significant thing on his resume...He turned down LSU and Auburn the last two years as well.
It's a definite upgrade and I liked Jancek BTW.
