Shoop confirmed on campus

There are only so many times you can play the mercenary card with your boss. Shoop has nowhere to retreat back to if he does not accept the job from Butch. It will be done quickly today.

Just thinking long term, I get a very good feeling about this program and where it is going. The "brick by brick" stuff started sounding old a long time ago; but it is a great description of the process. This could very well be the early building of a great new era of long term success for UT. I wonder if we all sit down with our grand kids one day and tell them the story of how it all started. Remember the next 12 months...it may be a treasure to carry along and pass down.

Just thinking......

After the garbage we put up with for 7 years, it's time.

Thats a good point - some of the Penn State faithful are already angry enough to say that "if he doesnt want to be here he should leave". That is until they see the dumpster fire of a program they will have left after he leaves.

And since he has pulled the "talk to other teams and get a raise back home" before, I dont think he can do that this time. If he doesn't come on board, things will be very sour for him in PA.

My story goes like this "'CBJ was hired right after we let CPF go..." Any other story is revisionist history

Franklin is a jerk naturally. Can you imagine what he's like when he's trying to be one?

If Schoop is hired, let's hope it doesn't turn out to be a bad hire. I don't believe Shoop is thought of as some kind of superstar defensive coordinator.

The hell he isn't. Both LSU and Auburn recently tried to hire him. He's known as an elite DC given what he's accomplished at Vandie and Penn State.

I'd tell my grand kids stories of things that really matter and a story about football coaches changing jobs as often as they change their clothes is not one of them.

Tennessee: Sources confirm to FootballScoop that Penn State defensive coordinator Bob Shoop is visiting with Butch Jones at Tennessee today. Shoop has an $800,000 buyout. If the two sides are able to work through that, sources tell FootballScoop there is a very good chance Bob Shoop will become the new defensive coordinator at Tennessee. Deal is not done at this time though.

From Rivals:

The list of prospects Thigpen was involved in recruiting is one of the most impressive lists ever compiled by a Rivals.com National Recruiter of the Year when you consider the things he had to overcome. He not only landed two five-star prospects in wide receiver Josh Malone and running back Jalen Hurd, he also landed four stars in defensive end Derek Barnett, linebacker Dillon Bates, defensive back Evan Berry, offensive lineman Dontavius Blair, defensive back Rashaan Gaulden, defensive back Cortez McDowell, defensive back D'Andre Payne, defensive tackle Michael Sawyers and linebacker Chris Weatherd (where he was secondary recruiter). Throw in three stars in athlete Elliot Berry, linebacker Gavin Bryant, athlete Neiko Creamer, linebacker Jakob Johnson, defensive back Emmanuel Moseley and defensive tackle Jashon Robertson, and you have one of the biggest hauls for one recruiter in Rivals.com history. - See more at: https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1607994#sthash.HsMqpvsu.dpuf

That's it? Yes please let's get rid of this guy.

Long time, no read. You doing ok?

I'm doing very well, thanks! Just been up to my eyebrows with deadlines and other boring writer stuff. Haven't even called to harass Finebaum in a month or so. But I'm seeing the switch for the bulb in the light at the end of the tunnel three corridors away (left-right-right) from where I'm sitting. I should get caught up just in time for...

...July.

Damn.

INSIDER INFO:

I spoke to a source at PSU and was told that Coach Shoop is loved by the players, and so is the Dline coach.
Also told that James Franklin is the huge tool we think he is, and most of the Players either don't like him or feel indifferent about him him. No one loves him.

All I got.
