Well this is bound to shake things up. Wonder what their hot board looks like

I'm kinda wondering now if Michigan has not been moving behind the scenes

If they were "investigating" for a month, they had to know pretty quickly he was guilty as sin. After all, how do you really hide an pregnant staffer?

I was kind of surprised Mullen and a few other big names didn't get much a nibble this cycle Brian Kelly might be the best they could hope for at this point honestly.

Wait, so Moore was coaching on a show cause at Michigan?

Exactly how did that work?

In order to "punish" Michigan for rampant cheating, the NCAA gave an existing hire a show cause.

Michigan knew Moore couldn't leave for another NCAA job so they got "punished" by being able to pay their coach less....

Moore was dead last in 26 salary for public big 10 schools.

Might explain why Brian Kelly was trying to get LSU to negotiate his offset...

he commited to LSU before Michigan - Kelly was probably the reason he de commited
He decommitted because Michigan threw a ton of money at him, pressure to stay home and a close relationship with Sherrone Moore. Now that Moore is gone, depending on the hire, I think he enters the portal and heads to LSU. He wanted to go there to begin with.

yes — there is a window when players can transfer if their coach is fired. The rules have changed recently, so here’s how it works under the current NCAA regime (as of 2025):
  • Under the new rules for FBS football: if a head coach is fired (or leaves), current players at that school get a special transfer-portal window. CBS Sports+1
  • The “coach-change” window was traditionally 30 days after the coach’s departure. ESPN.com+1
  • For 2025–26, that exception is being revised: now there will be a 15-day window, but it begins five days after a new coach is officially hired or announced. CBS Sports+1
  • If players enter the portal during that window, they are then free to transfer and be recruited by other schools. NCAA+1

⚠️ What “recruits” means matters

  • If you mean high-school recruits or recruits who have only verbally committed (but not signed anything), they generally are free to de-commit if the coach leaves or is fired — since verbal commitments are non-binding. VarsityBio+1
  • If the recruit already signed a formal commitment under a binding agreement (for example, a National Letter of Intent — though note NLI has been largely phased out in Division I as of 2024) then it gets more complicated. Historically, players in that situation would have to request a release, and the school could choose whether to grant it. Elite Athletes Recruiting+1
  • If you mean enrolled student-athletes, those are the ones who benefit from the “coach-change exception” transfer window described above.

Summary

Yes — there can be a window allowing current players to transfer if their coach is fired or leaves. But “recruits” who haven’t enrolled or signed are in a different category: they often just de-commit, which is informal and separate from transfer rules.

Michigan is such a joke. Cheating, stealing signs, compromising the integrity of the game and the university....not a problem. Dating a coworker...NO TOLERANCE! I won't be surprised if he can win some of the money back.
