Probably needs to be merged with the NFC championship game thread like the other Sherman thread was?

How many of you thought Peyton calling out his kicker years ago during an interview at the Pro Bowl was hilarious and perfectly okay?

Is a straight up punk. Go Peyton.

What makes him a punk? Sports, football especially is all about trash talk. Crabtree said or did something to make him react that way. He didn't curse Crabtree out on camera or use slang or subjective language. He was in his opinion calling a spade a spade. Should he have waited until he calmed down to address the situation? Sure, but nothing he said or did was way out of line to make him a "punk."

Can't handle the trash talk then you don't need to be watching/ or playing football or any other sport.

You consider them to be similar scenarios? Sherman exhibited very poor sportsmanship toward a defeated opponent. Whatever Crabtree said, it was between the players and that is normal conduct. Sherman took sore winning to a whole new level, and escalated a feud that no one even knew about.

Vandy called out Manning to the world and kicked him while he was down. Manning responded when asked about it. Not saying Manning is right for doing it, but he didn't escalate anything.

Why I really wanted to see the Panthers get another shot at Seattle.

Don't disagree with what you posted. I guess folks would prefer he would have more class in his post game interview since it offended so many people that did not deserve or request him to behave like an azz. This is not the first time he has acted this way in televised interviews.

Add in his choke/throat slash gesture that caused the penalty.

The "punk, thug, jerk" terms by people who heard him are expressions of displeasure similar to his expressions in the interview and on the field. They are not to be taken literally no more than his. If he is going to dish it out he needs to take it like a man.

He called him an idiot and drunk on national television. So what's worse? Showing up an opponent or a teammate?

I see no difference between the two situations.

Better than the normal interviews, at least he spoke his mind and showed some passion.

If Tom Brady said the exact same thing in a post game interview everyone would just say, "Oh that Tom Brady! He's such a fierce competitor!" But since it's Sherman, he's a punk and a thug. The guy is arrogant to a fault, but the amount of criticism he's received is equally obnoxious. And the racial component to all of this is just completely uncalled for.

But then again, Tom usually has his wife make his excuses for him, right?

Race is playing a factor in this. It was brash and it was over the top for sure. But he made the biggest play of the NFL season against his teams biggest rival for a trip to the Super Bowl. He and Crabtree also have bad blood.

People like to make harsh generalizations about athletes based on what happens on the field, they're usually way off, I believe this to be the case with Sherman.

Because Manning was asked about an existing and known feud and he responded in kind with one sentence. Sherman took a story that didn't exist to the public and taunted Crabtree then insulted him in two different post game interviews. How can you not see the difference?

What Vanderjagt did is not acceptable in the sports world and Manning returned the fired shot. What Crabtree did is completely acceptable in the sports world, and Sherman reacted in a way that is not acceptable.

It's totally different. I'm sure Manning regrets it, but it's nowhere near what Sherman did.

First impressions are lasting impressions, and I'm not impressed. So what that he went to Stanford with a 3.7 GPA, he has no class.

Sherman smacked him on the ass, said good game and offered his hand. Was it in jest? Probably. But what Crabtree did was just as unsportsmanlike. People are making a big deal about nothing, as usual.

Tell that to all the kids he helps, it's football, it's entertainment.

Wonder how today's media would react to Ali?
