Severe Weather Thread

Yeah that tornado basically went over my house in Memphis. I remember opening my front door and huge wind gusts were blowing the trees. It made me nervous because we have a heavily treed lot. We were just lucky, in that, it didn't touch down in our area. You guys got hit hard.

this was a completely different tornado. this damage was done by a f5.

What was the date? I remember there were several in the spring of this year that passed through. I don't mean the actual tornado went over my head but the super cell / funnel cloud did.

There were storms all over that day. This storm tracked Southwest to northeast in Alabama, if I'm not mistaken. It wasn't anywhere near Memphis. Other cells were.

Your probably right. My memory is a bit fuzzy that far back. There was a lot of activity that spring.

It doesn't matter where you live, there is always a natural disaster to fear.

Forest fires, hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, mud slides, winter storms, droughts, flooding, tsunamis, etc.

Back in May I watched a show on Discovery that was about the Japanese tsunami. It was all eyewitness video. Scary ****. I think I will take an earthquake or a tornado over a tsunami.

in just this week I will have dealt with 3 that you listed. I guess you can't say it's boring

OWH,

You are not likely to see nay rain from this system, unless it takes a turn to the east. Most of the heaviest rain wiill be along the coast, with a few bands coming as far east as maybe Ashville NC

This is actually setting up very badly for the east coast. Though it will likely not hit the outer banks as a cat 4, did you know we have no historical record of a cat 4 hitting abo e the SC/NC border? The initial landfall looks to be in the banks, but it looks like it will move all the way up them as a cat 3. But, what is even more worrisome is it's continued strength (and rain) through the most densely populous area of the country as a cat 2. The track is going to be very important to watch. Some models have it making a solid landfall in southern NC and staying more inland. That would likely be less damaging.
