Seth Stokes leaving the Swain Event

Isn't he the same clown who ambushed Butch a press conference about punching a player?

Should have been stripped of any UT media credentials after that stunt.

Hoping the next UTAD can get the media in check. Seems like Bud Ford used to be the guy that kept those yahoos reigned in.

The reason so many people have a problem with Seth is that he's not a good fit with Swain.

As several posts have already established, Seth struggles to contribute quality content. On a regular basis, a segment of the show will progress from a discussion to a one sided monologue from Swain. Undoubtedly, this happens because Swain is drastically more knowledgeable on the topic being covered.

Additionally, Swain's "cut-and-dry" broadcast style, which is one of the show's competitive advantages, often discourages frivolity. So, if a discussion progresses beyond Seth's understanding, he can't resort to comedy/drama, essentially stripping Seth from all available sources of content.

You can tell when Seth has been effectively boxed out of a segment when his only contributions to a topic are to say "Yep" when Swain pauses his dialogue.

A lot of people claim they don't like hearing Seth's personality on the show, but this is because he can't offer any takes on football without being upstaged by Swain's perspective.

HOWEVER, One of Seth's strong points is that he follows sports media and understands how to use social media to progress a story.

Seth asking Butch to comment on rumors that he'd had a physical altercation with a player was justified because it was an open ended story that was quickly gaining attention. Butch might not have liked fielding the question, but his firm response stunted the growth of this story. Once News Sentinel got their grubby hands on this story, it could have taken off and done much more damage if it wasn't addressed immediately.

And if for no other reason, Seth's question punishment for blowing back to back games against Florida and Arkansas.

Lastly, for as often as Turkey Man calls in with nothing actually worth contributing, I don't want him to quit calling because every once in a while he'll make a call goes in an unexpected direction that's really entertaining. Like the time he called in before Florida and was suddenly moved to tears from all the excitement.

Best news that I have heard in a while for that station. I quit listening to that station all together because of him. Now if he would completely leave the station and find a new job, I would start listening to them again!

Seth has zero credibility and zero journalistic integrity.

Any reasons or proof of such claims?

I prefer journalists to ask tough questions. I believe it is their job to address issues with people in power. Obviously, there is a fine line and and being questioned at every turn is a but much.

In this case Butch Jones was thrown a softball but in true cbj fashion, he swung and missed. Instead of calmly dismissing rumors he continued his nonsense and temper. I believe we can all agree that cbj unchecked, would be the worst propaganda ever produced.

Stokes seems like a good guy, a vol fan and someone who is learning their craft. Fatty summed up Stokes and Swain dynamic pretty well. I think it would be tough to work next to Swain, due to his experience.

I heard Stokes was headed to South Carolina media, any idea where?

The discussion on limiting "Turkey Man" from calling in made me think about this. Why doesn't Cattleman call in on Swain's show? Is he banned? I know he irritates a lot of people and says crass/below the belt things sometimes but I find him pretty funny. He really gets under Tony Basilio's skin pretty quick LOL!

Seth: I kept waiting on you to choke up with today being your last day and you ALMOST disappointed me until right at the end there! LOL! Good luck with your new job! Stay in touch, keep posting when you get time!
