Serious question: is hostessgate an issue anymore?

It was absurd and laughable, but many of the VN "experts" all insisted it was true, to the extent of mocking anyone who pointed out it's evident absurdity. Now, they complain if anyone points out how wrong they were, even as some of them brag about how "right" they were in bashing Pearl. (See hatvol).

What is even more absurd is that many fans were willing to put up with said rogue behavior because we were stealing away recruiting gems like Nu'Keese and wearing black jerseys and getting in pissing contests that don't win football games. 2009 will be remembered as the year that testosterone, not brains, determined the thoughts and feelings of many in the fanbase.

Yes, delusional. That must be the case if you "remember" me saying any of the things above. But, nevertheless, I'm not going to try and convince you of anything. You refuse to think about things like rational human human being and, in the words of Paul Simon, "I don't find this stuff amusing anymore".

I never said you 10essee, I specifically said it was the boys you were defending, and they know full well who they are.

Probably the same ones you told we'd lose to Ole Miss and Kentucky if we tried to let Bray air it out.

I have a feeling Mr Bray is in for a tough season next year without his possession receivers.

Let's hope some develop for him. Baggett will be earning his money in the off-season.

Meanwhile, both teams brought their D-games against us. Any game plan would have worked. I was worried about their A-games.

I seem to recall a debate stressing the importance of living memory in which you claimed a 1979 SEC Championship for TN. :)

I seem to recall you claiming a decade that had a 1% winning percentage better than the 1970s (the decade you cited as rock bottom for Tennessee) was worthy of a lifetime contract.

UK turned the ball over too many times, just like they did all season. Masoli sucked passing the ball, just like he did all season. We stayed away from running the ball too much, where we'd struggled all season. It isn't rocket science.

Where and when have I defended anyone? The people you're arguing with do not need my help. I simply pointed out your arguments are not based in reality. And predictably, you deflected and moved on to more inaccurate recollections and insane hypotheticals. 99% of people here do not, and will not agree with you no matter how you try to spin it. Give it up, you're embarrassing yourself.

1. You seem to believe they do; hence you have rushed to their defense.

2. Always bring the data. Always. Even on speculation.

1. Then where and how did I defend anyone. Examples please. Just because more than one person disagrees with you, doesn't mean they're "defending" each other. More than likely, it means you've made multiple stupid statements.

2. Do you know how speculation works? Data needs to be accurate and relevant in order to also be persuasive. Hence the reason everyone dismisses you.

1. Actually, I've been in the majority on most VN polls. I actually don't mind disagreement at all. In the one poll where I was in the minority, the numbers have always been going up, and they would probably do so even more. This, when I have but one VN alias, and the GoF have 150 between them.

2. Absolute hogwash.

1. Sort of like the hundred page thread with the "should Fulmer have been fired" poll? What were the results of that? I know you wouldn't just throw out a statement like that without any "data". That's not your style.

2. Actually, that's probably your most convincing agrument in this thread. No half-truths or short-sided "data". Just pure, simple opinion and stated as such. You should stick to that method.

Fulmer knew immediately after the USCe game he was canned.

He didn't tell the players. It's a bush league move by Fulmer to have his players find out by ESPN's ticker.

It was classic Fulmer politics to the bitter end. He knew that allowing the team to find out via ESPN would fire them up and he could play the poor persecuted victim angle. He was a douche in the way he got his job and he was a douche the way he exited. I lost any good feeling for Fulmer the way he left and continued whining after he was gone. Like Pearl in this fiasco, true character shows through and in the case of Fulmer and Pearl it ain't good.

Not even one shred of truth in any of that.

And with that, Gibbs slinks back into the shadows without acknowledging his inconsistencies.

I love this tack. As if I won't respond when I feel like it.

In one poll, I've been in the minority position (on the VN board, not in the real Vol world). As I said, I don't mind disagreeing with me. I've actually said I sympathize with the FCF crowd; however, I have been adamant firing Fulmer and hiring Qiffin was two brain cells short of an amoeba. And no, I didn't want Fulmer fired.

And my position has gained, and will continue to gain, adherents as time passes. As that poll demonstrated.

You mean with the group too poor to afford a computer with internet access or too stupid to know how to use a computer. You are in good company.

That poll demonstrated that the mods can have fun with polling results if they want to. You were conclusively crushed despite adamant claims the results would be in your favor.

You aren't insinuating the mods messed with the Fulmer debate poll, are you?

I mean, the fact that about 10 people are listed with over 1500 votes obviously means that the supermajority has managed to vote without registering.

And what is the gap which remains? Last I saw, it was 78 to fire and 22 to keep, IIRC.

Overwhelming by any standard - but especially when you consider that 78% STILL wanted him fired even with the benefit of hindsight and all that has since transpired.

More simply, when given the choice between keeping Fulmer and the status quo - or to knowingly endure AGAIN the hiring/losing of Kiffin, the rushed and quizzical hiring of Dooley, and the allegation of 'AA violations which we have recently been accused.....they still choose those things over Fulmer's retention.

If you couldn't break 50% in the intervening time since he was fired, nothing will ever help you to do so. That you call that a victory is raughable. Rearry.

1) Why do you think VN is not a representative sample of the real Vol world?

2) The poll showed no such thing. It was done after Kiffin left and people were still at their angriest. Yet it was still a landslide against Fulmer (80% - 20%)

1. Its composed mostly of a younger generation; you and me excepted, of course, among a few others. Many of whom have several aliases on VN. The UN would never validate this election, for instance.

2. It was hardly done when people were at their angriest, and the ratio was always going up in my position. Moreover, it's not the poll I said. I have always maintained some empathy for the FCF crowd, although I always believed it would work out a lot less favorable if executed. As has happened exactly. However, I'm happy to be in the minority opinion on the poll as written. Of course, the ratio was always trending in my direction over time. And history will vindicate Fulmer, even if some feel it hasn't already.

#1 is not nearly as true as you might think . . . And the duplicate account statement is ridiculous since you have no way of knowing (it doesn't happen very much because we don't let it.)

The age and multiple usernames are unlikely at best. They're also unverifiable. Not a good foundation for an argument. Also, you are arguing on VN, not in front of the UN.

Is there a link this poll you were referring to? If you do not agree with the way the question in the poll was written, start a new poll and let the votes fall where they may.
