Serious question: is hostessgate an issue anymore?

If this is in another thread somewhere then by all means merge. I didn't see it anywhere.

Lane Kiffin charged by NCAA with failing to monitor Tennessee Volunteers staff - ESPN

"Sources told ESPN.com that former Tennessee assistant coach David Reaves is accused of giving the hostesses money for the trip. The hostesses, Lacy Pearl Earps and Dahra Johnson, were members of the now-defunct Orange Pride.

Reaves' name is mentioned in the NCAA's report, but much of that section was blacked out in what Tennessee provided to the media."

So the worst is true about Hostessgate. Reaves is alleged to have paid for and instructed them to make the trip. This wasn't just some girls out watching a football game several hours from home. Kiffin and staff's rogue tactics would have eventually buried UT. Can you imagine how ugly this would all be if he were still here? USC did us a HUGE favor.

The good news is it looks like UT has dodged a bullet and the NCAA is more concerned with Kiffin/Reaves than they are the current football program. I guess we'll see in June.

Overall, Kiffin was definitely the right hire though.

That's a big allegation. When this first happened, I didn't see any way that their trip would have been paid for. I couldn't (or wouldn't) believe Kiff and co. would be that stupid/brazen. This is a big one, to me.

Ever heard of Bruce Pearl? It's rampant stupidity, a disease.

This letter was still just a list of allegations. Nothing has been proved just yet. I'm not cheering for the last administration just pointing out the facts.

That's multiple layers of hearsay. ESPN says that unnamed sources said that someone has accused Reaves of...

This is one where I'd wait to see who the unnamed someones are before drawing too many conclusions.

Unnamed sources say that the NCAA accuses Reaves and that is the portion of the Notice that was marked out in the copy that went public. Not too far of a reach. Your point is well taken though. They are only allegations at this point (as was everything else in the notice). Reaves will have his "day in court" as will Kiffin, Pearl, Hamilton, and the rest of the crew. If he can prove it didn't happen then he's better off for it. At this point, I wouldn't bet on it though.

So, no more "innocent until proven guilty"? Now its guilty until proven innocent? :ermm:

LWS intimated in the other thread that they (NCAA) had actual written proof he paid for the trips....

Sure

Kiffin had a job as HC of a Pro Football team.

Where his rather delicious firing was imminent.

And, as I have said all along, this was Hambone's Experiment exclusively. He had the keys and the whole playbook to the process, and he dialed up Qiffin.

:good!:

This was known by many people for a while. Hamilton just kept it secret (pretending and falsely claiming "nothing" would change from their earlier public denials of such involvement). Of course, if someone said so on here, they were blistered by the kiddies for pointing out the obvious -- that those girls didn't go doing any such thing on their own.

Wonder if this is why Kiffhole didn't take Reeves with him. Maybe Kiffhole's response will be that he didn't know Reeves paid for the hostesses to go and when he found out Reeves paid them, he decided not to take Reeves with him to USC. I wouldn't believe him but I wouldn't doubt he'd say it.

That, and many other reasons involving Reaves' problems during his tenure here.

Which gets me to wondering if he (Reaves') was doing anything "illegal" at his previous place of employment before coming to UT? Assuming he acted on his own (doubtful). I would love for this to start leaking back to South Carolina.

VV, I'm a outsider but I've been following your post for months and so far your info has been, for the most part, accurate. What amazes me is all the "homers" 1st said it didn't happen and now claim Kiffen is going to get the sanctions and UT's football team is only going to get slapped on the wrist, wishful thinking IMO. UT isn't going to get the USCw type sanctions but they aren't going to get a slap on the wrist either. If it was 1 sport the NZAA would say it might be the coach but when both major sports coaches break the rules then lie about it to the NZAA it makes it look like the whole AD is corrupt. It may not be true but that's what it makes it look like. For the ones that are saying it's only allegations, the NZAA doesn't put it in the papers unless they already have some kind of proof.

The fact you're commending his info tells me you're his friend, his second account, or a troll. UT is going to be fine.
