Serious question about DW

This is not a pile on post about DW. This is a serious question. Why do so many people feel like he is the best AD we have ever had? I’m not saying he is or isn’t just wondering why so many feel this way.
You’ll begin to hear stories of things Tony did while here. Time he gave to regular folks. Most have no idea just how incredible Tony is. Tony did these things under the conditions that people wouldn’t share. Tony is the guy that called into a local post game show while he’s out on the streets celebrating with the fans after the 2022 Bama win. It wasn’t the sanctioned Vol Network show BTW. Danny would show up to a birthday event for Roger (special needs caller) with Blade Tidwell. There’s a list as long as your arm, and the guy loved it.

Danny? Danny is about Danny. He’s corporate and he’s going to say the right things, although he had some cringe worthy moments today. Look at the stadium access debacle. That’s Danny White. Your football stadium has become a large restricted area where the peasant fans now have to navigate around “no peasants allowed” area, just to access their 18” hard metal seat. The ticket waiting list?? BS. Danny sells about 10k tickets to groups like Ticketmaster.

Nobody wants to hear it. Doug Dickey proved it wasn’t hard to get UT fans to give money, and he was a colossal POS.

I think some of the perception of his skill has been distorted by two coaches on campus he did not hire running the most stable and successful programs. Certainly, Danny has had a role to play in helping those programs along the way, so I won’t write him off and say he has had no role in that success.

He’s obviously a great businessman that has exceptional skills in raising money and is probably well-suited to the NIL/rev share era of college athletic where dollars and cents matter the most, but the jury is still out, IMO, on his ability to identify coaching talent.

Danny has been great for Tennessee, but some of his comments in the presser today, his robotic personality, and his challenges with maintaining relationships gives me pause about the future. I think Team Danny has just as much delusion as Team Tony (I include myself in that) because they will excuse everything Danny does.
Danny also did very well with the NCAA stuff, which could have been a disaster. I don’t want to be unfair to him.

It is bad - I mean it helped where I enter when they changed the band route - but in the process they destroyed the tradition that had been there before he even set foot on campus. I don't know why they decided that was a good idea at all.

And leaving - well don't get me started on that - getting to a bus to go back downtown is a mess. It wasn't last year. You have the folks trying to get into the bus line walking with folks that just want to get to where they can cross the street - big mess on a sidewalk that wasn't meant to allow thousands of folks to do so quickly.

Who ever made these decisions have no idea how to effectively handle a crowd of folks entering or leaving the stadium.

Awe, which helmet works best to fit that big noggin of yours? Do I also need to get you a towel and a binky? You sound like a child that their parents never whipped their a$$ so now they whine for their entire lives about something that has little to no effect on them. In the end the University will be fine the baseball program will be fine and you all will just need a bigger binky for the next time you don’t get your way. TV is a really great college coach, he did a lot for this university that also did a lot for him. Paid him millions to coach a kids game that no one really even watches. It allowed him to be able to move into the pros. I’ve seen better coaches do a lot with a whole lot less. This university has poured absolutely tons of money into this program, if they did just half of what they have poured into it, TV never wins a national title, because he was able to use the money the collective has put together to entice some absolute studs to sign on the dotted line and come here to play. But let’s not pretend he has as many rings as Jay or even Corbin does. He leads the country the past 4 years on drafted players and we have 1 Natty with that. I’m sure the next coach is the right one can do the same thing and if not, hopefully Football, and both basketball programs can bring a few home.

It's actually closer to irrelevant.

The UTAD is judged in regards to FOOTBALL, basketball, and a little bit on women's hoops. That doesn't please this forum, but it's the plain and simple truth.
I largely agree. But I do think Tony and the baseball team saved some grace for the other sports. It was already going to get loud if football goes out and lays an egg the rest of the year, but if that happens now I’m afraid it’s going to get very loud.

You do understand the university is contracted to do that with Ticketmaster? Also yes there is a long waiting list, my cousin a CEO for a insurance firm called to ask, it was 3-5 years at least if you gave min, he asked how much it would be to move to front of line and was told 7 figures. You will see him at the restricted access stadium sometime this season and all sports teams will be able to take advantage of that. Also DW when I met him wasn’t a colossal POS, pretty nice guy actually, got to talk to him for 10-15 mins and he didn’t rush off. I don’t give tons of money to the university and he didn’t care and didn’t push me to do so.

What type tickets was your cousin asking for? We have had new folks in our section the last two years. If I remember, I am going to ask them at the next game how long they had to wait ... take an informal poll with real folks.

I love Tennessee but there’s a reason the cost of living is higher in California. Politics aside, it’s a desirable place to live. I’m sure it’s a dump depending on who you ask but wealthy people tend to go there.

Don’t look now but they’re infiltrating Nashville. Fake plastic people are like a virus, infecting cities and towns until they’ve ruined it, then they move on to the next one.

Again, this shows how delusional some of y'all are.

2024 Revenue:
Football $149M
Basketball $27.4M
LV Basketball $4M
All other sports $16M (baseball approx $4M)

So, do you think baseball's $4M is closer to $149M, $27.4M, or whatever volleyball generates?
I wasn’t responding to these numbers. I was responding to your “significance” quote which was a generalized sentence. I have zero delusions about Vol sports.
