To be honest, given the history of the last 20 years, Florida is always a worry no matter who has the pre-game edge. But if UT gets its usual fast start (i.e., 14 points or more in the 1st quarter), Florida simply won't be able to play for a time of possession win. A fast start by the Vols will dictate that Florida will have to pass, not run. If that happens, UT should win going away.

I can see this. If they're effective running the ball, it's going to be a much tougher game for us. ( duh, right?) More so than usual though. If we get 2 scores ahead and our offense is clicking, I can't see them hanging with us. It's up to Heupel. If he stays aggressive the whole game, we win. If he pulls that slow down and play safe crap when we get a little sloppy, it becomes a different game. more steam

UF has played 2 teams that will likely have 10 win seasons, UT hasn’t played one.
That's true... but the 3rd team is the one that makes the point relevant. They didn't move the ball or score vs USF.

Just to put that USF close call in perspective. Had the Bulls held on, it would have been their 2nd FBS win since beating ECU on 10/26/19.

BYU beat USF 50-21 in a game nowhere near as close as the score.

If Florida had been playing Vanderbilt, Missouri, or South Carolina on Saturday they would’ve lost. That’s how bad they are this year. Their offense is very bad.

Few guys on SECN talking just said Florida out talents us at most positions. Just haven’t been able to put it together.

Said Florida will run the ball with success to limit our possessions. Said TN has one of the lowest time of possession already in all of FBS.

Said we will stack the box to stop the run and leave AR easy options 1 on 1 to make passes.

Their plan is to run, slow the game down to take the crowd out of it.

Interesting take. We will see.
That is actually a reasonable argument. Florida because of its location in ya know FLORIDA tend to have a lot of talent even if they have bad recruiting seasons.

There is a reason that Texas, California and Florida can all support multiple good teams year in and year out. There is a reason there is almost always Some small school in Florida that takes off and makes noise every decade or so. UCF, USF have their moments in the sun every once in a while. Because of the sheer amount of talent in Florida a lot of talent there slips through the cracks. Guys that would have been easy 4 stars in other states with less concentration of talent end up as 3 stars or no stars because of academic issues or off-the-field stuff. This happens everywhere but it happens more in places like FL, TX/CA/GA because of math. It is easier (as a scout) to cover a state that has 200 legit prospects vs one with thousands and get more reliable reads on kids. You go to the game and you're probably paying attention to maybe 4 or 5 guys max per series.

Whether they currently have more talent on their roster than we do is something that's up for argument. Thats a very important qualifier. You may feel like this because you've read some article that shows recruiting class rankings over x years. Or some knee-jerk reaction of some butthurt fan. But it has to be put in context. Florida currently has less talent level than is normal for Florida. There are hundreds of fan bases across the country that would kill to have their 'bad' roster. The same has been true for the UT roster we here have whined about the past decade. Yeah it was lower than it had been in the 90's and early 2000s, but we always had talent. If you don't believe me look at NFL rosters during those 'lean' years. Do not sleep on the talent level of SEC teams. Outside of a very few outliers, the difference in talent from top to bottom is not nearly as much as one might think. Every team in the SEC consistently puts talent in the NFL. So Vandy's Roster might look like Crap compared to Bama but compared to probably most other schools nationwide its very good. The bottom 4 teams in the SEC if they went to group of 5 conferennces instead of power 5 would be near the top of their conferences instead of the bottom.

But we will likely get their best effort of the season. We need to punch them in the mouth early and keep the pressure on all day.

Force Richardson to throw with PRESSURE on. Don't give up easy slants with massive cushions on their receivers. Make him earn it and he will fail.

That is an issue of UF players not taking USF seriously and thinking they could win by just going through the motions. They won’t bring that same mindset into Knoxville. We will get their best shot.

Look, everyone seems to be acting like UF is on Mizzou or Vandy level this year. They aren’t. People need to realize if UF was that bad then Utah would have easily won and UK would have blown them out. UK basically won that game b/c of a pick 6. Levis is going to be a top 10 pick and UF made him look bad. UK had under 300 yards of offense.

The biggest homer in all of sports in Chris Doering. He always thinks the gators will win. He actually admitted on Sunday night that it will be tough for them to win.

When Chris Doering even thinks they lose....;)
