SEC Tourney Bracket - Tournament discussion

This is kinda off topic, but is there any reason that the SEC tourney isn't seeded 1-12 like the Big 12, ACC, and the Women's SEC tourney?

The entire schedule is set up that way; it is why you play everyone in your division twice and everyone in the opposing division only once. I don't know enough about the other conferences regular season scheduling to comment.

I think it goes conference record, then head to head, and then you start at the top team in the division and go down.
