We all know how important the top 4 seeds in the SEC tournament are. Not just for the tournament but also the perception.

I looked at the remaining schedules for the teams around TN in the current standings (Ole Miss, MissST, Vanderbilt, LSU). I fear it will be too tough for TN to end up as a top 4 seed. TN can only afford to lose 3 more games to have a shot. TN has the most brutal final games of anyone! (SC, @Van, LSU, TaM, @SC)

Here are the Remaining games for these teams:

Ole Miss: Looking like 12-4 or 13-3 (solidly in 2nd or third place)
@SC
TaM
FL
MissST
GA
Missouri
Ken
Ark

MissST: Looking like 10-6 or 11-5
@TaM
GA
FL
@OleMiss
Ken
@AL
@Auburn
Missouri

Vanderbilt: Looking like 9-7 or 10-6, could push to 11-5
AL
LSU
@GA
@TaM
TN
Ark
@Missouri
GA

LSU: I'm thinking one more loss, putting them at 12-4 (Good for 2nd or third place)
FL
@Van
AL
@TaM
Auburn
@TN
@GA
Kentucky

and finally, TN: Not going there, haha; best case, I think it is to lose three more games 11-5, more likely to be 10-6
Missouri
@AL
Arkansas
SC
@Van
LSU
TaM
@SC

This looks like a race for 4th between Miss ST and TN, with Van still a possibility. AL and Ark are long shots but still in it technically with 4-4 records.

What are everyone's thoughts on the remainder of the season and where TN could end up regarding SEC tourney seedings?

Too early too volatile… no way OM goes 13-3 I’m doubting 12-4.

We can afford 3 lumps but I’ll be more confident after the next 3. Bama plays terrible at home. Arkansas shoots good on the road but they are wild.. if we can beat LSU I could easily see 12-4 for us.

AM sucks on the road… and Vandy hasn’t protected home well

I agree that SC and Ole Miss look solid for two of the spots. The other two are certainly up in the air with Tennessee holding the tiebreaker over Miss St and at present Vanderbilt. So if all three finished 10 and 6 were ahead of Miss St and Vandy still to be decided with that game in Nashville as we hold it right now and even if they win there could still hold it. We have LSU at home and not conceding that game I think we can win it. Even if we do they might still finish third as I don't see us beating SC which drops us to four losses. All the others are winnable JMO. so long way to go.

I think the most likely order is SC, OM, LSU, and UT. However, seeing in the past few weeks how vulnerable LSU can be when a couple of challenges arise such as Angel on the bench in foul trouble, Van Lith struggling at point, and/or the freshman Wiliams making major mistakes as she has their past two games, I definitely feel it is possible that we could beat LSU and win all our remaining games except the 2 against SC. If LSU also won out except for us, we would be seed 3rd for the SEC tourney and LSU 4th. This seeding would make it quite likely that we could reach the finals of the SEC tourney, as the toughest team to reach the Finals on our side of it would be Ole Miss in the semis rather than SC. I so much prefer OM, especially given that we played horrible at their arena and still almost beat them.

Looks like we need to go 11-5 and we would own the tiebreakers needed to get in - just also needing MissST to finish 11-5 or worse.
MSU is a good team, but I think 11-5 in SEC play this season would be the absolute best case scenario for them, they have some nice pieces but are still wildly inconsistent. 10-6 seems more realistic at this point. I could see OM finishing either 12-4 with their remaining schedule. If UT wins 11 games in the SEC they are a lock for top four, 10-6 might get it done, but would need some help.

My early gut says SC, LSU, OM, UT as top four in that order. UT could move ahead of OM of course, but the SEC scheduling this year did no favors to UT, they have the hardest schedule in the second half of SEC play of any team. Of course they might knock off LSU or SC in Knoxville, I could see that happening with the recent reemergence of Spears. Should it come to the last weekend and needing a win however, it’s hard to see UT winning in Columbia against SC where they have a 50 game win streak. UT needs to avoid that scenario imo.

granted,,,,luck of the Rebel as it were
It’s funny CJ when you say Rebel, because it reminds me of when I moved to the South from Maine over 30 years ago, I was always called a Yankee. Which of course I am, but it was weird hearing it from Southern friends who were calling me this, then I realized it was like when I was growing up in Maine, I can remember the older folks referring to Southerners as Rebels. I smile at all those memories both ways now, and realize it was mostly done in jest on both sides. My best friends in the world now are Southerners, and I think they feel same about me, the Yankee. They have both become terms of endearment to me when used properly and with the right intent, which is how most good folks use the terms today.

First joke I recall hearing about Yankees while living in the South was that there were two types, those that visited were Yankees and those that stayed were damned Yankees. I’m a damned Yankee.

endearing posters like you are to me, Roo

There are so many fakes and drive-bys that those who are in it for the long haul and the right reasons are treasured. Your name indicates your chosen college, but you are truly a LV fan as well. I commend you for being real.

You're a class act to me, Rooster and I hope someday to meet you and shake your hand

Oh, I’m guessing our team would love another game with OM! That loss must be chapping the good guys for sure!!!!

I’m hoping Kellie got the message from her staff and is following through with a priority of winning now. Like tonight. Like Right Now! She’s got one more year with that first class. Wynn has separated slightly, imo, but you’ve got the other three playing the 3/4.

Who did Kellie replace when she brought in Joy and Sam?

Edit: Jennifer and Lacey.

A lot depends upon the coaching and the match ups. This team with the right players on the floor at the right time can win enough remaining games to do well in the SEC tournament and beyond. Part of that is having your best players on the floor the majority of the time and realizing the short comings of each of your players and not putting players in a position to be unsuccessful. You must put them in position to play to their strengths and skill set.

That “depth of field” seems to be coming into focus for Kellie and her staff.

LOL do you really think they're only just realizing these things? Pretty shocking if so.

I've said before, if a 3rd place finish is off the table for us, I wonder if 5th is better than 4th. 4th would mean a 3rd game against So Car within a few weeks. Totally in keeping with KJH's luck. If we are 5th, we get an extra game which could be a badly needed win for tourney purposes, and if we win a couple, the rematch in the semis would be LSU or Ole Miss, not So Car. Of course that risks a terrible early round loss which would completely dash our hopes. But getting embarrassed by So Car 3 times in a month is just not my idea of a good time.

Losing any game that we should win also risks not being invited in the first place

In that scenario, we should hope for the 6 seed and not the 4 seed. You don't want SC in game two especially if we're still on the NCAA bubble.

right now we are last four in,,,losing any game should not be an option

I agree, but I'm saying in the event TN enters the SEC tournament on the bubble, you don't want to go up against SC in game 2 and get an L and have it knock you out of the NCAAs. In my opinion, it would be better to be a lower seed, avoid the SC matchup, and have a chance against LSU to earn your way into the big dance. Ideally, we wouldn't be in that position - but it is what it is at this point.

Keeping the receipts from this NVs talk.. it’s about to be a lot of folks quiet when the Lady Vols prove them wrong.
