I'm sure it's not worse than Ames or Manhattan, but those teams were a part of the conference* before TV became the driving factor. If the Big XII were forming today, those teams wouldn't make the cut. And if the Big XII were to fold tomorrow, those teams would be scrambling to land in the AAC, MAC, or CUSA. Adding another market on par with Ames or Manhattan was moronic when Louisville was available.

*I know that technically the Big XII is a totally different conference from the Big 8. But given that the Big 8 moved to the Big XII en masse, that's splitting hairs.

Less tv sets because of a smaller population went over my head. I was imagining people in WV adjusting the rabbit ears on their old black and white tv to catch the game. Thanks for the explanation.

Do not ever consider Free Shoes U.They had the chance.back at the first expansion of Ark. and USCe.Bowden did not accept saying,(paraphrase) "Why would I want to go to a conference where I would be 8-4 or 9-3 every year when I can go to the ACC and he 11-1or 12-0 and play for national titles?:"

We don't need anymore teams. I'm not happy
Missouri and Texas A&M are in the SEC

I would try to find another team to replace Oklahoma State because they are so far West. Miami May foot the bill. Big TV market and a pretty good football history.

State would leave in a heart beat to join the SEC. I don’t think they can, but they would. If they could find a way to stop being the redheaded stepchild of UNC and Duke they would . State hates UNC more than they like their own team. Joining the SEC would be the ultimate middle finger they are looking for to point towards Chapel Hill.

UVA also has a weird connection to Carolina as well, which might keep them from ever leaving . Plus, Todd and Margo and the rest of the UVA alums think they’re way above the SEC in just about every way possible. Their level of Public Ivy arrogance is only matched by Michigan or UNC.

The SEC should never have expanded to add Missouri or A&M. While I don’t mind A&M that much, Missouri makes no sense at all.

I assume you'd be good if we brought back Sewanee and Tulane. Tradition is good but there are times you have to forgo it for reality. Otherwise, it makes as much sense as equipping the army with muskets and tri-cornered hats.

No way are they going to have three teams from Tennessee, Memphis will be blocked by UT and Vandy. We could add Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Florida State and Louisville.

I would like to exchange our bottom feeders for some decent teams. For instance, every 10 years take the 4 teams with the worst performance and kick them and replace with better teams. If they right the ship they can attempt to join the conference the next decade when the cut is made.
