SEC Championship 2025

I’m declaring the Hoosiers #1 scrap the playoffs and just to make bama mad I’m declaring #2 notre dame…….

BAMA. IS. NOT. GETTING. IN.
I’ve changed my tune on this after listening to Sean McDonough and Greg McElroy last night and giving it some additional thought.

I think Miami is in and either Bama or Notre Dame is out. I forgot that the committee had moved Bama ahead of ND last week, even though both won on Nov. 29. Choosing Miami or ND for the final at-large spot would allow them to do three things:

1. Protect the integrity of championship games by not penalizing a team for losing in one.

2. Utilize the easiest of metrics (head-to-head) to select the final At-large team, which protects the emphasis on scheduling good teams.

3. Maintain harmony among the P4 leagues by giving a bid to an ACC team.

The committee could also decide a team with three losses isn’t getting in - that’s an easy data point to default to, and Bama’s bad loss to FSU is a black eye ND or Miami doesn’t have.

Personally, I think ND is the best of those three teams right now. I also think Alabama has the best body of work of the three. It will be interesting to see what the committee does.

You may be right but I don't agree with it. There's a lot that's not right with how teams get chosen.
I’ve changed my tune after giving it some thought. The committee could still use the three loss data point as a deciding factor, but they could also achieve some things by using the Miami/ND head-to-head result to determine the final At-large spot. It will be interesting to see which way they lean.

This is exactly what the committee did.

The championship game will end soon. Hell, it’s nothing more than a money grab anyway. No way you can have 16 teams in a conference, each team plays half of them, and determine a true champion. It’s a joke any more. At least with 12 teams and 2 divisions it was somewhat entertaining.

If that’s true, then the CFB playoff is much worse. Two out of 16 is a higher percentage than 12 out of 150ish.

I have now. Congrats on being the Troll King for the weekend and for your Tide getting in! RTR

Lighten up, Francis. Man up and eat your crow. I did when it was my turn. Most of us here do. Not all that bad with a dash of hot sauce.

On XM radio today somebody mentioned Notre Dame has their tv deal with NBC versus SEC & B10 are ESPN so by default because of that money Notre Dame wasn't getting picked. They put it as "heads you lose tails Alabama wins" on a coin flip lol.
