Seattle wants to fire white officers

Obviously, they want to get creative to at least maintain the diversity of SPD while shrinking the department. In her own words:
shes saying she doesn’t want to fire POC officers.

Who do you think that means she IS in favor of firing?

Spin it any way you like.

Imagine firing people based on the color of their skin as a solution to racism.

2020 is wild man.
Imagine boycotting a Hispanic company to fight racism.

Imagine burning down black-owned businesses to protest racism.

Imagine shooting black kids to protest shooting blacks.

Imagine tearing down abolitionist statues to protest our history of slavery.

Maybe this isn't about what they say it's about. Maybe the power brokers are pushing fake issues because the real issue is that they are screwing us. Maybe they need us fighting each other because if we ever caught onto what they were doing to us, we'd unite and tear them limb from limb..

Wow, it doesn't even sound like the claim was that it would disproportionately affect minorities. Just that it would affect them.

OC have you never been to the global warming thread bruh???

That was the only thread bart EVER posted in much here, because he is a liberal scientist on the dole...studying how building that new nuclear plant which will greatly benefit everyone will displace the " western striped back yellow tailed farting mouse"....because of global warming being all man made...and having NOTHING to do with the fact that his entire department will lose funding if both of those pre decided outcomes of the study arent reached as the conclusion. That is admittedly a slight exaggeration...I dont think the mouse actually farts.

He has single handedly kept that thread alive, and denied the countless studies posted there showing any effect we have is negligible, of falsified evidence and crooked studies, of experts in the respective fields that got together to debunk the studies used as damning evidence... I mean it absolutely does not matter what he is shown. He is the scientist and we are all idiots. Period. There are some hilarious exchanges when people just finally give up arguing with him lmao.

I will say this...plastic, styrofoam, petroleum and chemical spills...the world and China in particular needs to do a much better job about pollution...there is a huge island of plastic bottles miles long in the Pacific for Pete's sake...but nature is cyclical, ice ages come and go...and there is next to ZERO real evidence that man is raising the temp of the earth. Zero. Yet anyway. We both know the Lord wants us to respect nature and our planet...but global warming is just as much a farce and a shakedown as in the 70s when they said we were headed into an ice age and we were all gonna freeze to death. What a joke....and Bart is a clown. Lmao

You mean this one?

That argued its away around the country to get to this more recent one?

Which led to more arguing, until you finally agreed with us that she's proposing laying off based on race.

So... You don't know if what the chief said was true, but it was race baiting because it was untrue.

And the councilmember didn't call to lay off based on race, but may have, but my saying that she did was a strawman because she didn't, but she actually did and you said so all along.

Did you write the Covid rules too? They sound eerily similar.

And let's not forget that you defended her against the idea of laying off based on race as though it would be a bad thing, and then when you had to agree that's what she was doing, you presented it as though doing so isn't such a bad thing. Eh... It's just a creative way to maintain diversity.

No. It's racist toro caca, and you've been waffling your way through this discussion just to carry water.
Boy are you in a tizzy. My posts are consistent. Have you even decided yet whether you think SPD/Best stated defunding would disproportionately affect BIPOC? It’s kind of critical to the discussion.

Yes, the councilwoman’s statement that layoffs could be done out of order of seniority was in response to Best’s comment. She’s not saying fire the white ones, just that they can go out of order of seniority. There are plenty of criteria out there besides race and seniority.

Fire them all.
That is the nuclear option. The city could just refuse to renew the contract with the police union that expires this year and seek labor from a different pool. I hear Trump knows a guy or two...

That would be pretty crazy but we are in uncharted waters.

Yes, I've decided. I'm not in a tizzy. You're posts have been consistently trying to excuse your bull-ish. You've tied yourself in knots to carry water.

If they're going out of order so as not to lay off minorities (which is the context for which she is finding an alternative), they're going out of order to lay off whites.

It's racist toro caca that you're carrying water for. Take a bow.

Great idea! I hear the more diverse your organization is the better it performs! I am sure axing all the White cops will just boost this performance!..........
Seattle will have people crapping all over their sidewalks and dropping their used syringes everywhere too....it’s the liberal way

And why is she suggesting the SPD chief go out of order?

If the councilwoman wants less non white employees to be fired, then that leaves one racial group to cut from.

Yes, I've decided. I'm not in a tizzy.

That never said that it would be disproportionate.

Ok, how do you interpret this quote any other way? “Laying off 50% of the department means we would lose more than 50% of our BIPOC officers.”

You're posts have been consistently trying to excuse your bull-ish. You've tied yourself in knots to carry water.

Talking past eachother confirmed. Here are some quotes from OP:
The solution according to City Council member Lisa Herbold is simple: fire officers based on their race.

This of course would be even more egregious since Herbold wants to fire white officers due to their race alone. They would not be accused of any wrongdoing or failure. The problem is their race.

Herbold would not only refuse to promote on the basis of race but would fire officers on that basis. No test. Just a pure racially discriminatory program of terminations.
Contrast that with reality:
While Herbold had said the chief could instead opt for “out-of-order” job cuts to preserve some diversity, she says that has been misinterpreted as a suggestion that the chief just fire white officers. Instead, she suggests the chief could use “out of order” as a tool to, for example, cut officers with the biggest records of disciplinary problems. And she contends that a 50 percent budget cut would not require cutting 50 percent of the officers.
Hence, my accusation that OP is a straw man. Look, I understand your point. Yes I even agreed, in part, as I pointed to in my first post. But the above scenarios are far from the same.

Who even knows if the worst SPD officers are disproportionally white? Nevertheless if you’re cutting half the department (especially in the context of the national movements and SPD still being under a federal consent decree for excessive use of force) it makes sense to start with the worst offenders. It would be easy to argue that that is in the interest of efficient operations of the department. Start by firing the officers that have cost and are highest risk to cost the city millions of dollars in lawsuits – that should save enough money to retain a few more officers.

An employment lawyer could and would make a fuss about the context of Herbold's comment, but unless they're firing officer mcwhitey with a squeaky clean record over new officer da'blackguy with similar record, I don't think it's going to be a big problem. At least, it's well down the list

Yes who wouldn’t jump at a job where you could all get thrown out on your ass on a whim.

Washington is an at-will employment state so most anyone can get thrown out on a whim. For a base starting salary of $85k/year and a $15k signing bonus, great benefits, overtime, pension, etc. and all you need is a high school diploma or GED (and no felonies/domestic violence/etc.). That’s a pretty sweet deal.

Consider that their starting salary is over $10,000 more than the average salary of Seattle residents, and 90% of SPD doesn’t even live in Seattle. They’re living in the burbs and making bank. I mean, look at some of this bloat… (and not just the PD)

Why The City Of Seattle And Their Police Department Is In Trouble

That said, again, I am not for defunding of the police. Cuts will be made across the board anyway due to the pandemic. But if it were up to me I’d ultimately shoot for roughly the same rate of employment, double the pay, and quadruple the qualifications.

Non-BIPOC minorities feel totally left out of this stupid argument. I wonder what woke millennial in the department came up with that buzzword...

Moment Woke Seattle 'harm reduction' worker tries to stop reporter filming Taxpayer-Funded Meth Pipes being handed out to Vagrants in Public

Shocking video shows the moment a Seattle-based social worker tried to push and stop a news reporter from filming a drug camp as they distributed 'aid supplies'.

Jonathan Choe was outside Dow Constantine's drug camp in King County when he recorded public workers conducting a 'harm reduction' operation - aimed at providing treatment and medication to those addicted to hard drugs.

In the video, the seasoned Discovery Institute journalist can be seen approaching a van filled with supplies that were being distributed by two people in the camp.

But Choe claims that instead of helping homeless addicts turn their life around, the duo were handing out 'meth pipes' and 'needles'.

'They were giving away needles and fentanyl kits like candy. Not a single person was offered treatment,' he captioned his X post.

He also went on to reveal that the bag of supplies he received from the workers shockingly contained huge bags of syringes, pipes, foil and what seemed to be black straws.

As Choe boldly continued to film the welfare workers' activities, he was repeatedly being told to switch his camera off and stop filming.

At one point, one of the aid providers could be seen trying to cover his camera and pushing him away from the van.

While many would expect the pushback from the workers to be worrying enough, Choe later revealed that he ended up being pepper sprayed as he was filming around the camp.

It’s not a shock. These programs have been going for a while in some major cities. Someone decided that giving these people a “clean” apparatus for their drug use would help prevent the spreading of who knows what from sharing. These addicts in the streets are desperate people. They will pick up a random straw or syringe off the street if they don’t have one.
