I am a top QB. I like the bluster of Kiffin, I like the city of Knoxville, I like knowing that Peyton Manning is still idolized more than a decade after he played. I think I am the next Manning.

I watched them some last year. The offensive line looked worse than the one I play behind in high school. The offense as a whole was so bad that it made me question what I could do there. I am not Michael Vick. I am a pro style passer. I need a good running game and I need some good WR, but most of all I need a solid OL.

Fast forward to September 21, 2009.

Tennessee looks pretty good. They are 2-1. Their offensive line looks astonishingly better. Bryce Brown and Oku look like they could for the next three seasons turn into another Lendale White, Reggie Bush, or Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown. When they lost to Florida, I saw Crompton miss some throws that I could make. I think I could have been a difference in that game. If that is all they need to get to the National Championship level...man...and Kiffin got guys in the NFL just like coach Sarkisian...in fact, my dad's idol Coach Carroll had Lane as the offensive coordinator over Coach Sarkisian while they were both at USC.

Washington is 1-2. While they beat the Idaho Vandals I think my high school team may have been able to handle them. Coach Sarkisian got absolutely destroyed by LSU, and that is the kind of defense I want to be able to pick apart. LSU also beat Washington by 7 touchdowns, and USC with all their future pros only won by 3. It is clear that the SEC is the best conference in the country.

Does TN end up with Joe Montana's son? Washington will suck and they will improve from 0-12 but not enough to not look awful compared to UT and its 8 wins.

At this time last year UF guys were mocking us with Nu'keese Richardson. Summer recruiting battles are weak.

We are in good shape with Prater from Illinois because in part we picked up his friend Fulton and that is great. Trooper Taylor is trying to get him to Auburn, but we are going to WHOOP them this year, and we are going to do it with a short receiving core. Prater will be able to see where a tall WR could star at UT like Pickens did, like Nash did, like K. Washington did. He can also think about (and our staff can point out) how amazing Peerless Price did with Eric Moulds at Buffallo and how hard it was for them apart. If you have a tall fast guy who can get the ball on jump routes and a smaller fast guy who can make a guy miss and go to the house, almost all the teams on your schedule cannot cover them both.

Losing Stripling hurts, I am surprised there has not been more of a commotion made about that. I wanted him after he dominated our camp.

What do you guys see as happening with the season playing out? Commits who are committed elsewhere who you think we can turn? Commits who you want the most still on the board? I think even if we get Montana, Stephens will start over him for a year but he will be an outstanding QB for us in the long term.

It's not the ONE QB I'm worried about, it's the studs on the O-line and at WR that I'm afraid we are missing out on.

If Charlie Weis just beats, Nevada, Washington, Navy and Stanford I think he gets fired. I also think that is possible. If he only wins 5 I think he still may get fired. If Weis is fired I think that we can maybe get Hendrix, but I also think that basically it breaks down like this:

TN has bluster but that is it after winning only 5 games. TN wins 8 games and our program will look eons healthier than ND, Washington, Auburn etc.

We cannot get Mormon kids who BYU wants, we cannot get Catholic kids who Notre Dame wants, we cannot in staters who are living the dream playing for their favorite team, but boy can we get a lot of players who are studs. Our recruiting staff made freaking gold from straw last season getting a top 10 class with the deficiencies they were working with. Another top 10 class and we start replacing the kids who got kicked off/left the team with kids who are better and we are right back up there were in the SEC only Florida, Georgia, LSU and Alabama can compete with our talent level. That means that every year we will be in the top 25, every year we will be in a good bowl game and compared nationally to talent, only a few schools (forgive me if I forget because I am not researching at all) like Oklahoma, Texas, USC, Miami and Florida State will be able to recruit with us. Taking top 10 talent every year nationally, and developing it to top 10 results will be huge.

I also submit in the Kiffin era that he will not suffer from what Fulmer did the last few years which was such pathetic FSU and Miami teams that Florida got all the best kids. I also know that I neglected to include any Big 10 schools on my list. That is because if we could blow up the BCS, it would expose the Big 10 schools as the frauds they are. If we had an 8 team playoff, the Big 10 would not send a school to the Finals any year. Michigan will be better under R Rod and that will in turn mean that each of the big 3 big 10 teams, Michigan, OSU and PSU will beat each other up more than they have been, ending Tressels run to again and again to the N.C. where his players get slaughtered.

Pro football factories? Under Kiffin TN will be a top 10 program every year after this next season. We may finish outside of the top 10 rankings wise, but that is because I also expect Florida, LSU, Alabama and even GA (at the bottom of the group but still TOUGH) to all be top 10 programs. I think with preparation Kiffin will win bowl game after bowl game when TN who only lost to Florida and Alabama plays against a Big 10, Big 12 or ACC foe in a bowl matchup.

It is going to be soo good to be king, and I really think that when you look at 2010 to 2020, assuming the following (Kiffin stays, Meyer stays, Saban stays, Richt can continue to keep Garner and his recruiting, LSU can keep a reasonably competent coach and get all the LA talent) that 5 programs including TN will rule the SEC and that teams like Ole Miss, Arkansas and maybe South Carolina (if Spurrier stays) Auburn will be content with 6-8 wins a year and conference losses and UK, Miss State and Vanderbilt will hopefully be good enough to not embarass us out of conference but will know their place as doormats. Auburn cannot ascend as long as Saban is at Alabama. Too many kids who are bandwagon. Auburn cannot exist as a top SEC team in an era where Alabama is ascendant.

Recruiting abilities, facilities...gentlemen we are about to be a top 10 program again which is where we rightly belong.

Montana already committed

Which is the point of my post. We got committed players last year away from the schools they gave a verbal to.

Montana committed because he loves Sarkisian. Washington sucks. They were 0-12 last year. They are truly truly bad. He will have to see it up close and personal this year. I think TN still has a chance with him.

This staff is known for taking less and making more. Look what O did at Ole Miss..
We will be fine.

Washington has some decent talent. (I live in Seattle, dad is a season ticket holder...suffice to say that I saw a few games). Jake Locker is like a poor man's Tim Tebow, he just needs to work on his accuracy. They had a terrible coach. I think under Sark they will improve drastically.

I think you are right. If we can have a pretty decent season this year (like 8 wins) then I think it will help our recruiting a lot.

i didnt read your entire post because it is way too long.
but bill king brought up a good point. he mentioned some of these qb such as scroggins will see a player such as Barkley shine and might start to have a change of heart and change his commitment.
There were also a lot of good QB's last year and many of them went to the same school (like UGA and Texas) maybe they can land a transfer. Prolly not from UGA but maybe another one.

The best recruiting tool for us will be if Tennessee has a good season. If Crompton has a breakout year, it will erase all doubts about Reaves.
