SDS picks us to go 9-3...

I have said all along the floor for this team is 7-5, ceiling is 10-2...most likely outcome is 8-4.
With our RB and LB situation, I don't see making it through the season without depth at those issues being a factor.
We have 4 RBs and 4 LBs in rotation we should be fine

9-3 is where I think this team's ceiling is and that's only if everything goes perfectly, which it almost never does. 8-4 would be a REALLY nice season for this team and I would leave this season feeling very good about the program. 7-5 would be unsurprising. I wouldn't be concerned over 7-5 but it wouldnt necessarily convince me that Huepel is the guy. The jury would still be out for me. 6-6 would be a little concerning and 5-7 or worse would be alarming. If we win 10+ with this roster, build the statue!

I think to win 9-10 or 11 we would have to have things fall in to place like 98. IMO the 2001 team was better but. We need things like fumbles going our way. Penalties going our way. You can have a top team and lose close games due to circumstances. Like last year vs Pitt & Ole both games could been easily Ws but the Refs & football gods didn’t go out way. 98 was a magical year great D and good game managing O and good timing on opponent miscue. I hope we can see a magical season. Just hate to lose on controversial call's and miscues. Could go anywhere between 6-6 & 11-1 just according to how the chips fall & injuries.

You can add the Purdue game to this as well. Pretty amazing to think just how close we were to winning 10 games last year.

9 and 3 with a 2nd place finish in the East and a win over the gators. New years 6 bowl and national relevance would surely follow...

I am still at 8-4 with a win over FU or the Pups and a loss to somebody we should beat like USCjr....which would be a great season and progress towards us having a shot at the East again every year. I will be very happy with an 8-4 season with us playing at both the gators and chickens..

9 and 3 is surely possible though...if we are really wearing orange colored glasses and avoid injuries at key positions 10and2 is actually possible albeit very, very unlikely with the relative strength of LSU, UK, USCjr, Pitt, UGA, and Bama ALL likely to be ranked in the top 25 when we play them. Heupel would win SEC coach of the year if somehow we made it thru that murderers row with only 2 losses while starting the season ranked just outside the top 25 at 26th....it would require 4 upsets.

The SDS Crystal Ball: Predicting every game for Tennessee football in 2022

9-3 with losses to Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina.

A nice bowl bid as a reward after this season.

Neither of those things happen at 9-3. We won't get into a NY6 bowl at 9-3, I don't think. And Heup wouldn't win SEC COY at 9-3.

Both those things could happen at 10-2, though. Especially 10-2 with an upset of UGa or Bama.

We're not likely to get to 10-2 this year. But if we did, I could see some COY, some NY6, and even an invitation to New York in December for our QB.

Go Vols!
My work friends were thinking I was crazy when I told them I thought Tennessee was going to go 10-3 or 9-4 this year including the bowl game. They said mean things :/

^^ that would be weird. After the gheytors, gumps, and pups, the team that i hate most is ND.

They are ranked between 5 and 15 spots higher to begin every season than their returning talent and track record deserves. For the last couple years that hasn't been as bad...but historically not only are they vastly overrated in preseason polls, a 4 loss ND team is frequently ranked higher than a half dozen P5 teams that have only 3 losses. When we lose a game we fall 5 to 10 spots, when ND loses they fall 3 or 4 spots. It has always been this way in my lifetime...Catholics gonna stick together i guess? Last year was an exception to the norm...and as usual they got boat raced just like slow Big10 teams always do when they played an SEC school. Ohio State is the lone usual exception to this SEC dirtnap trend, but with top 5 recruiting classes every year they should fare well against anyone they play not named Bama.

Honorable mention for Hate list:

Ohio state
Meatchicken
USC
Oregon
USCjr
And the scrubs UK and vandy.
