I think to win 9-10 or 11 we would have to have things fall in to place like 98. IMO the 2001 team was better but. We need things like fumbles going our way. Penalties going our way. You can have a top team and lose close games due to circumstances. Like last year vs Pitt & Ole both games could been easily Ws but the Refs & football gods didn’t go out way. 98 was a magical year great D and good game managing O and good timing on opponent miscue. I hope we can see a magical season. Just hate to lose on controversial call's and miscues. Could go anywhere between 6-6 & 11-1 just according to how the chips fall & injuries.
That stadium sucks for bowl games. There is nothing around it except the parking lot. I'd rather go to Jax or Orlando.Says we play Notre Dame in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa. Not a bad bowl if we can get it!

9 and 3 with a 2nd place finish in the East and a win over the gators. New years 6 bowl and national relevance would surely follow...
I am still at 8-4 with a win over FU or the Pups and a loss to somebody we should beat like USCjr....which would be a great season and progress towards us having a shot at the East again every year. I will be very happy with an 8-4 season with us playing at both the gators and chickens..
9 and 3 is surely possible though...if we are really wearing orange colored glasses and avoid injuries at key positions 10and2 is actually possible albeit very, very unlikely with the relative strength of LSU, UK, USCjr, Pitt, UGA, and Bama ALL likely to be ranked in the top 25 when we play them. Heupel would win SEC coach of the year if somehow we made it thru that murderers row with only 2 losses while starting the season ranked just outside the top 25 at 26th....it would require 4 upsets.
The SDS Crystal Ball: Predicting every game for Tennessee football in 2022
My work friends were thinking I was crazy when I told them I thought Tennessee was going to go 10-3 or 9-4 this year including the bowl game. They said mean things :/Neither of those things happen at 9-3. We won't get into a NY6 bowl at 9-3, I don't think. And Heup wouldn't win SEC COY at 9-3.
Both those things could happen at 10-2, though. Especially 10-2 with an upset of UGa or Bama.
We're not likely to get to 10-2 this year. But if we did, I could see some COY, some NY6, and even an invitation to New York in December for our QB.
Go Vols!
If that happens, it'll be 3straight, all against P5 schools out of Indiana...Says we play Notre Dame in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa. Not a bad bowl if we can get it!
