a.priceHarrison played every snap and from talking to a few people who were on hand, he played pretty well. Wasn’t perfect as you would imagine but threw some nice balls!
Chaney and Weinke were just pushing Harrison to be confident I was told. The word I was told was “solid” in describing his performance.
Isaiah Montgomery had a touchdown. I was told that Tamarion McDonald flashed at safety. I was surprised to hear he was back but apparently made a nice hit or two.
Malachi Wideman went up and caught a pretty good ball. Jalin Hyatt participated along with KeShawn but didn’t participate a great amount. Tee Hodge, Dee Beckwith and Lenneth Whitehead got in some good work at RB. Beckwith flashed the most at tailback.
Morven Joseph got a a handful of reps and continues his progression.
p.brownLot of needed work for some freshmen who needed it after what happened in the preseason. Guys like Bailey, Wideman, the young RBs (Hodge, Whitehead, Beckwith) on offense, Joseph and some others on defense. It was more a mini-scrimmage as full-scale scrimmages are well over 100 plays and they didn’t run that many.
I’m not sure how much I’d read into it as far as guys shooting up the depth chart. It was described to me as more player development than an audition for playing time but we’ll see if anybody did enough to get on the field more. Either way I think it was smart by Tennessee to make up for what happened in the preseason.
If this year doesn’t count towards eligibility then why not start Harrison? AUBURN started Bo Nix last year. Trevor lawerance came
In as a freshman and took over for Kelly Bryant . Tua came in and took over for jalen . Yeah he is young And may not be on the same level at those guys but let him use this year to learn . I don’t think he will see another defense like GA this year . Let him ball out and learn the offense and bring some new but fresh air in this fan base . Give us something to look forward to . I don’t wanna spend another 10 years hurting like this. If these coaches are good developers like they say then this shouldn’t cause any set back .
Maybe HB just isn’t that good yet?...food for thought. If he was “the truth”, like a lot of VN thinks he is, I’m sure he’d be out there. You make great points that I think most on here would agree with. However, in each of those cases you mentioned, you had a coaching staff who was at least moderately interested in developing depth at the quarterback position. We, it seems, do not.
We need to wait until Harrison Bailey is ready. Part of JG’s issue is he was thrown into action too early as a freshman before he was ready and he was “seeing ghosts” when they rushed him. Unfortunately he never really got over that.

Maybe JG is simply the best of what we have?...Well that's the conundrum here. there are a handful of backup quarterbacks, not just bailey, and with pretty well every other staff in the country you know that whoever does best would be out there. But because of the way this staff handles quarterbacks, we don't have an opportunity to know who's good or not. But we do know that no one is getting game opportunities to get some experience where it counts.
He was a redshirt freshman...and didn’t really play until the 3rd or 4th game.We need to wait until Harrison Bailey is ready.
